That’s merely your opinion.
You’re either trolling, or want something that doesn’t exist. The reason the forums (and the chat in game) are full of trolls, and people being crap to each other is because people ARE crap to each other. There has NEVER been “intelligent debate” outside of planned (usually paid for) venues. Most “debate” is one group trying to silence another group. They may call that “debate” but it isn’t.
The real world has people murdering each other daily, for land, money, power, and occasionally for fun. Do you really think that a species that commits war would be shiny-happy-people online?
The things I could write here about people I know or have met, who play this game… People inside WoW reflect the macrocosm perfectly.

The internet (and wow) is not the way it is because of any imagined “anonymity.” It mirrors EXACTLY the world outside the screen.

Just out of curiosity, why do you figure OP is Republican?
I’m not American, and I’m always intrigued at the level of identity politics that I find you guys have. It’s getting worse here as well, and perhaps some insights as to the reasoning behind people’s attitudes would help counter it here before it picks up steam.
Very eloquently said my friend. I could not agree with you more.
However, I must admit that I am part of the problem. Sometimes I engage in mature debate. Most times I devolve into childish passive aggressive slander. I’m not going to give excuses for my past transgressions. I can at least admit that I have made mistakes. That’s why I can relate to this post.
It’s a thought provoking post that truly stands apart from the rest. Anyone with an ounce of maturity and self reflection can see the truth and sincerity of this post. I truly appreciate what you said and will make an effort to be more kind, more patient, more understanding, and above all else, more human.

OP tries to make a post promoting kindness, and you feel the need to rip it apart.
I know the truth can be hard to admit, but most people aren’t as ugly on the inside as you would like to think. Hopefully you can find true happiness and stop blaming your sadness on others.

Thank you for saying this. It seems like the internet has devolved into a space where people are free to let their baser selves completely run free.
With that being said, the people who really need to contemplate this will just ignore it. Such is the nature of humanity.

These forums are a mess for simple reasons. Poor moderation and lack of any transparent communication. We have to practically riot to get a BLUE to post on anything.
