A plea to Blizzard for regular flying in Dragonflight

I definitely don’t share the same struggles, but those who’ve had it hard with Dragonriding have had my sympathies from basically day 1.

I’ve suffered from vertigo in the past from a bridge accident, and while it’s rare I ever get it anymore these days sometimes it comes out of nowhere and Dragonriding is certainly no help.

Cause if it was that simple, dragonriding mounts would have worked in older zones on day 1.

Guten Abend, Abendroth.

Just wanted to update my original post to say I still hope for normal flight, but thanks to some great friends I can now fly the renewed drake. My friend Kyzera made sure I got my skills, so my thanks to her for getting me going.

Although, due to my guidance, my dragon’s landings are more of a “controlled crash” than anything resembling a smooth touch-down.

I see my quest location, grab hold of the mouse and pull it down, all the while my “ride” is yelling Not again!!!. I am getting better at it, however. Especially when I run out of vigor. Just gotta make sure not to land in a nest of NPC’s.

Because you play this game the way Ion wants you to, or you don’t play. His way or the highway. If Ion thinks it’s fun, then anyone who doesn’t is just wrong.

My vote’s on “Add regular flight to Dragon Isles, add Dragonriding to all other continents, and no more obnoxious Pathfinder achievements.

I was hoping holinka leaving was followed by ion.

I would like to send a plea to Blizzard to allow dragon flying in other zones. I still need to find that annoying camel figurine.

I’m actually okay with pathfinding in DF to slow down the bots, since we do have some alternative flying.

I can get anywhere faster an easier with dragon flying. When I first started, I thought I’d never actually finish a dragon race. A month later I thought, ‘well, I finished all the races but I’ll never get a silver’. After I got silver, I was pretty happy and said I’d never get a gold. Now I have 2 or 3 golds. It’s been a fun satisfying challenge.

The only thing that’s annoying is when you run out of vigor while trying to find a certain treasure and I can’t put myself on auto-fly and die way out in the ocean when I go for a coffee break anymore.

You mean like everyone with a gathering profession?

Believe it or not, TBC Flight has a way of dealing with the whole auto-fly-to-die problem.

stops pressing W/toggles off autorun

hovers perfectly in-place mid-air with no loss of control

Wow, look at that. It Just Works™.

Not in the minority

Have statistics?

But gathering has changed over time and doesn’t require as high a commitment as it used to. Around Kalimdor and Easter Kingdoms you can’t move 10 feet without tripping on another herb, but in the Dragon Isles you could be going all the way from the bottom to a many stories high mound just to harvest fewer herbs than you used to.

I argue, Blizzard did take gathering into account with Dragonflying.

(I’m not a zealot on this topic)

Dragon ridding is the upgrade to the most Greek yogurt feature in the game. Never go back, never downgrade

Dragon Riding was a downgrade.

Nah, u can only go up from Greek yogurt

I… Don’t fully get this analogy, guess 'cause I’m not a huge yogurt gourmet, but I’ll take the vanilla of TBC Flight over the crazy flavor of Dragonriding, thanks.

id lie dragon riding a lot more if a DRAGON could be its own mount.

Idk, I’ve never eaten Greek yogurt. I just thought of it and found it funny so I’m rolling with it.
