If Blizz has shown us anything with the slew of hunter nerfs, its that anything widely complained about enough in PvP gets the hammer.
I think all of us lightning enthusiasts know deep down in our heart of hearts that we’re quickly going to become public enemy number one at level 40. Maybe there’s hope because only alliance can complain about us. Less voices, less chance of nerf? I’m not holding my breath.

hunters are still stronger than era. if ele remains stronger than era after 5+ nerfs i think theyll be fine.

I’ll never forget my second solo WSG after hitting r14 on my warrior and being fully decked out with gear. I saw a Tauren Shaman thinking it was an easy kill. Just keep Mortal Strike up on him and kick his heals. I charged him > he war stomped immediately > chain lighting + earth shock > dead. I couldn’t believe what I just witnessed. Full stam r14 gear and I still got global? No way. I checked the damage received and realized lightning armor did the killing blow. It was at this moment I realized I wasted 16 hours a day for months pvping on the wrong class.

My second class is shaman, an elemental shaman pretending to be a resto shaman. They will probably need a nerf and it will probably be warranted. Elemental shamans were the best magic damage turret in the game or tied for best. If you kept them safe they turned alliance premades into something that would make even Mike Pence blush.(which would then warrant him too getting the zap)

They can’t, eles can do that stuff without any sod runes and buffs
It’s hard to say what will be “best” but ele shamans should be pretty disgusting.
It really all depends on what kinda gear is out there and new runes.
lvl 40 with BFD gear will already be more spell power than most shamans had at level 59 back in 2005, before guides told you how to sweat.
Elemental sure was nasty in 2019 Classic.
But there’s a -25% damage debuff this time around. As well as Druids with instant cast party wide heals. Warriors that will soon be near unkitable. And abiliites and one item so far offering fake resilience. So who knows.
Back in 2019 they were also abusing the batching thing to double dip with EM, weren’t they?
Not a batching thing. It was a thing with next-spell buffs that was fixed one by one over time. Elemental Mastery finally got fixed in patch 2.3 so it was vanilla accurate.
yes in vanilla you couldnt double crit off EM. but ele was always extremely strong in vanilla, because they are basically resto shams that can switch into one of the most powerful turrets with insane burst on the fly.
The only thing I see happening to Shamans is they may revert the change to overload rune, but other then that I say your gucci

elemental overload and elemental mastary, with a lava burst that can also elemental overload. fireshock - chain - lava burst / overload/overload - earth shock is just extra.
No it wasa batching thing.
It got fixed because the 200ms batching was gone in tbc.
Which was why mages could sheep each other or how you could break cc being used on you by using something like a dark rune because the damage reflect back to you is batches with the cc
Or you could divine favor holy light and holy shock and both would always crit because of batching just how Ele did it with elemental mastery.
It won’t be in sod because they removed batching.
