[A-RP] <Mithril Gryphons> Adventure Roleplay

The Mithril Gryphons is a tight-knit roleplaying guild adventuring across the Dragon Isles! :dracthyr_yay_animated:

Who Are We?

Out of game we’re a small (~50 person) Discord community that was founded in February 2021. Many of us are long time friends that met in World of Warcraft several years prior and decided to organize this community as an online home. Many of us still consider it that today, although most no longer play WoW.

In-game we’re a moderate (~6 person) team of role-players. We’re looking to build that roster up with more active members that carry a similar interest in what we’re doing. More on that down below.

Roleplay Narrative

The Mithril Gryphon Company (Mithril Gryphons, MGC, or “Gryphs” for short) is a guild of intrepid explorers, errant mercenaries, and diligent researchers. We serve as do-good adventurers-for-hire for the people of Azeroth. The crew collates public information, requests, and our personal interests into distributable guild tasks we call Expeditions.

The Mithril Gryphons were founded on the eve of the Dragonscale Expedition at the behest of its current Leader, Kona Spryspan. She calls forward new members through word-of-mouth and public recruitment strategies. Initially the guild offered anyone that joined a quick opportunity to join the Dragonscale Expedition and travel to the Dragon Isles, regardless of experience and background. Today the guild still stands by those claims, but our scope expands to any exciting journey, wherever its located.

The Mithril Gryphons are still exploring the Dragon Isles to this day. We have traveled through the Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, Azure Span, Thaldraszus, and Forbidden Reach so far. We have brought aid to all five dragonflights of the Valdrakken Accord, have had friendly encounters with the Maruuk and Iskaara, and have provided service to the Obsidian Warders.

And there’s more to come as Dragonflight’s narrative reaches a climax in patch 10.2, Guardians of the Dream. The crew is anticipated to travel into the Emerald Dream during our early 2024 roleplay. Until then we’re on a holiday break doing casual RP periodically, but not on any exact weekly schedule. More on that down below.

Roleplay Theme

The theme of the Mithril Gryphons embodies friendship, compassion, and taking the initiative. We encourage spending your time on Azeroth doing fantastical things. Teamwork can solve many of our problems, even the most harrowing ones. The journey’s we undergo are just as important as the destinations we arrive at. Camaraderie is a precious thing, so make the most of its privileges while you can.

Guild Activity, Roleplaying Structure & Schedule

Mithril Gryphon roleplay primarily takes place on the Dragon Isles (lvl 60+). We do heavy roleplay, valuing lore, post quality and narrative content. What we do and where we go is always chosen by our team following a Choose Your Own Adventure format. Types of roleplay encounters found across Expeditions include combat, diplomacy, exploration, mystery, and puzzle solving. A simple yet effective d20 ruleset is often used to keep encounters fair, fun, pretty quick, and semi-unpredictable.

Roleplay sessions are scheduled once a week for either Friday or Saturday. Sessions start at 8:30 pm Eastern and have a duration of around 2.5 hours.

Most of all guild activity in-game takes place during these scheduled times. Outside of them - and keeping in mind our team size - we’re currently not a guild of day-to-day engagement. We’re also not a guild that does PvX content. Our primary focus is to have these weekly, high-quality, scheduled roleplay sessions.

Rules

In Discord, be considerate, inclusive, and respectful to all members. Do not harass others. Treat others how you want to be treated. We all depend on each other to create a fun, friendly atmosphere.

In roleplay, do not God-mod, metagame, power-play, or break lore. Do not be disruptive OOC.

How to Join (Closed)

Recruitment is currently closed. Check back later for if/when it reopens.

Community Update
With a Gnomish Army Knife I resuscitate this recruitment thread back from the dead~ :ghost:
Its been half a year since an update. We let it slide. So +1 Bump

The Mithril Gryphons are still an active, small guild. This recruitment thread has been completely updated to reflect where we are now. Over the past few months we’ve been continuing to do weekly roleplay sessions on the Dragon Isles. Its been a lot of fun and we’re in a good place right now. But we’d be in an even more awesome place if we could recruit a bit more folks to join us.

Here’s photographic evidence of our roleplays thus far.

Here’s a look at our upcoming expedition copy/pasted from our Discord server. It begins this weekend and ends the weekend of November 18th. Check Scheduling above for more info on when we do RP.

Guardians of the Dream I

  • Duration: 5-6 Sessions (10/6/2023 - 11/18/2023)
  • Encounter Types: Combat, Diplomacy
  • Reward: “Guardian of the Dream” (RP Title)

The young green dragon Etazius travels to the Mithril Gryphons hideout to plead for assistance. He informs the group of the nascent world tree growing within the Emerald Dream and invites the crew to help begin protecting its sanctity. Along the way the Gryphs will have decisive confrontations with Aydraen Bearbough, the Druid of the Claw turned Primalist, and Clan Drakescar, a dwarven clan of dragonkin poachers, that’ll determine both their fates.

If that sounds fun to you - fighting Primalists and learning about the latest patch in the expansions narrative, from a roleplay perspective - then please consider joining! All you necessarily need to do is join the Community in-game and speak up. Have the enthusiasm to stick around and find out. Joining the Guild Roster and Discord are also highly encouraged options. Check How to Join above for more info on what I mean.

Lastly, it’s frankly worth mentioning that after this expedition we’re taking a break from RP for the rest of the year, for the holiday season and Season 3 content. We’ll pick roleplay back up again in early 2024. We did the same routine in 2022. It’s still worth joining up with us in the meantime, though. We can all enjoy Winter’s Veil together. :dracthyr_tea:

The Weekly Bump #1

Hi!

Starting this week and until we shrivel away into obscurity I’m going to start providing weekly updates for the Mithril Gryphons that I’m calling The Weekly Bump. Here, we’ll cover the events of last week’s roleplay and provide one or two screenshots for visual aid. Got the idea from a recruitment post I saw on the Wyrmrest Accord forums.

This week’s post is to catch up on the ~32 weeks of roleplay we’ve played since September 2022. Aspects forbid I actually write out a summary here for everything. What we’ll cover is several points in time along our timeline. :dracthyr_comfy_bronze: Here we go~

The Early Days

The journeys of the Mithril Gryphons began in the early days of the Dragonscale Expedition, before traveling to the Dragon Isles started. The first roster of members came together in Stormwind City to organize into a guild of intrepid explorers, errant mercenaries, and diligent researchers.

Our first roleplay session, “The Mithril Gryphon Company.” A promising turnout! We began in Dragonflight pre patch with roleplay between Stormwind City and Badlands that introduced the narrative of the expansion along with dracthyr roleplay characters. Afterward we took a holiday and expansion launch hiatus till January 2023.

Our Grand Expedition, And What Happened Next

The Mithril Gryphons set sail for the Dragon Isles once the Dragonscale Expedition began in earnest. The crew had a grand expedition across each of the isles four regions, providing aid to each dragonflight, among other fun adventures.

One of our Waking Shores roleplay sessions, “The Courage of One’s Convictions.” We accepted a commission from Blacktalon to assassinate a Qalashi champion before they could rally a counterattack against the Black Dragonflight. This is us strategizing how to infiltrate effectively.

One of our Ohn’ahran Plains roleplay sessions a few sessions later: “A Grand Hunt.” The crew competed in a Grand Hunt competition hosted by the Shikaar. Our hunt was against a mosshide mammoth patriarch, which put up way more of a fight than we expected. In the end we barely won the competition.

One of our Azure Span roleplay sessions a handful of sessions later: “Riddle Me This.” The crew was commissioned by a young blue drake to open up an ancient vault at the Azure Archives. The puzzle involved a series of riddles that had to be solved correctly or the room would fill with rampant arcane energies. We managed to do it with only two errors, and was rewarded with a bounty of jewels, gems, and ancient literature.

One of our Thaldrazzus roleplay sessions a few events later, “Rose-tinted Hourglass.” The crew was commissioned by a bronze dragon to help restore an ancient relic that replays scenarios pulled from the flight’s timeways archive. Along the way we were offered timewalking tutoring. We then had to actually enter the hourglass to confront a horrible scenario. The group was sent back to the Third Invasion of the Burning Legion on Argus to defeat a wounded dreadlord named Belitheros the Inquirer. In our time the dreadlord was slain by an order of heroes. In this scenario the dreadlord slaughtered that order and survived. With the help of bronze magic we finished the fight.

After the grand expedition ended, as well as a short hiatus, the crew got back together to continue adventures across the Dragon Isles. One of our more recent endeavors involved the claiming of a guild hub we call “The Roost.” Afterward, we began to consider ways we could design and outfit the hub. One idea brought forward was to, and I kid you not, construct a bouncy castle. The screenshot above is from later into the “Mithril Gryphon Hideout” series of roleplay sessions. We commissioned Iskaaran crafters to help build our bouncy castle. It sent us on a lengthy misadventure between Ohn’ahran Plains and Azure Span to get all the requested materials.

The last expedition we went on was a short series of roleplay sessions called, “Return to the Forbidden Reach.” We took on a commission of a captain in the Obsidian Warders. The captain needed our assistance in claiming a Healing Wings cache that Sundered Flame Loyalists were stealing from the Support Creche. However, Primalists were also hot on their tails to claim the cache for themselves. In the end, we secured the cache, routed the Primalists, and allowed the loyalists to surrender so that they might turn over a new leaf under Scalecommander Emberthal.

Last time with MGC…

Okay… we’re caught up now. Goodness, we’ve done a lot.

Last time with the Mithril Gryphons, we began our last expedition of the year called, “Guardians of the Dream I”. This session, subtitled, “Intro: Crown of Harmony,” saw some of the crew spending a long rest in the Roost, when all of a sudden the green drake Etazius arrived bearing horrible news. A group of shadowflame Primalists, a dwarven clan of dragonkin poachers, is attacking Lunedane in Ohn’ahran Plains. We’ve worked with Etazius before during the grand expedition to drive back Primalists near the Shady Sanctuary. Now it seems he needs our help again under similar but ever more dire circumstances.

Thanks for reading! :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated: The next Weekly Bump will be early next week to share what happens in, “Guardians of the Dream I - Part II: Fury Incarnate.” Recruitment is open if anyone’s interested in joining us and getting involved going forward.

The Weekly Bump #2

Hi!

Here’s a recap of last weekend’s roleplay. We split it between two sessions so members who could only roleplay on Friday or Saturday both had opportunities to shine. Everything turned out swell, except for our miserable luck rolling d20. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

While reading you’ll notice the use of names that aren’t actively present in-game, and screenshots containing one or more raid markers. That’s because: A) Our guilds narrative includes NPCs that support the players, and helps introduce or drive narrative elements. B) It’s an MMO and we’re on an extremely tight budget. It is what it is.

Player-characters mentioned in the post below are shared in bold. It’s evident in my writing that a lot of NPC names get thrown around. Perhaps it’ll be worth having a “Meet the Crew” section at some point to help share info on each of our members and NPCs. If it does happen, it’ll release during our holiday break starting mid November. Something to tie off the lack of weekly recaps. In the meantime, a few sentences are split up ((like this)) to share a very brief summary for NPCs.

Guardians of the Dream I - Part II: Fury Incarnate

The first session this week began with the Mithril Gryphons meeting Etazius ((green drake; guild ally)) at the Roost ((the guilds hub in Thaldraszus)) to begin his commission. He requested assistance in driving out Clan Drakescar ((a wildhammer clan of dragonkin poachers, recently discovered as being newly devout Primalists)) from Lunedane in Ohn’ahran Plains. The crew agreed and took flight southwest immediately.

Etazius and the crew landed at Lunedane’s northernmost point. They rendezvoused with The Kindled ((a Horde adventuring party; allies of the guild)), who Etazius enlisted as well. The Kindled arrived ahead of everyone else to scout out the situation. What they discovered, and then went on to share through a Far Sight ritual, was Clan Drakescar held three fortified positions across the settlement and at the southside pavilion was an ongoing ritual of shadowflame. Zevnynth was able to glean through the flames and fumes that Aydraen Bearbough ((a Druid of the Claw turned Primalist; rival of the guild)) was captive inside and at the mercy of a clan hearing. The commission’s focus now sharpened into a concrete goal: Stop the ritual and save Aydraen.

The combined force of the Mithril Gryphons, Etazius, and The Kindled then pushed through Lunedane. Each of Drakescar’s fortified positions were punctured through with shock and awe. One noteworthy feat of the battle came from Drazzly Sparksprocket and her F.0.U.R.W.4.1.1 Engine. Upon activation, her body’s hard light technology projected over herself a large ironclad soldier of faith. In total, twenty one Drakescar and nine gryphons were dispatched.

The second session this week began with a different Mithril Gryphon crew meeting with their Leader, Kona Spryspan, at the Roost to discuss the ongoing commission. She stayed behind to pick up any stragglers, and whilst waiting it was confirmed to her by Cynathal through their communicator that Aydraen’s life was on the line and they needed help. Spryspan got the aid of Shandregosa ((blue drake; guild member)) to teleport both of them and three more straight to the thick of the situation.

The group teleportation landed them at the southern courtyard of Lunedane on top of where the third fortification was already destroyed. Everyone, save Etazius, were now holding off reinforcements so Spryspan and company could next help Etazius in dealing with the ritual and what awaited them inside.

An excerpt:

The deep voice of an unfamiliar, dwarven man echoes loudly. Loud enough to pass the roaring shadowflames that bar passage to whatever is happening on the other side. It’s an ongoing conversation. “Bear-man. There’s nothing your slick tongue can spew to convince us otherwise anymore. You’re done! Simple as that.”

The voice of a familiar voice also now manages to weasel past the flames. Aydraen Bearbough, coughing and wheezing, yells back through pain. “…Stop.”

The dwarf continues. “No. Ye’ have been found guilty on all charges. The murder of Krugnul Drakescar. Deceit against the Primal Incarnate. Refusal to assist your ilk in flames. Refusal to comply with this hearing. Refusal. Refusal. Refusal…” They slam their fists into stone and stand. The rumbling noise of rubble follows. “By my name as Thane, Jomougrirm Drakescar, I sentence ye’ to death! What say’s the clan to that!?”

Through the combined effort of Etazius and Dzukasara a path into the ritual was made possible with green magic. The group then stepped in to disrupt the preceding. Initially the crew opted to try peaceful dialogue, but the interaction fell short as Jomougrirm Drakescar failed to listen to any argument coming from dragonkin. Combat broke out right after the dialogue failed!

In the end, Jomougrirm Drakescar escaped, but the clansman at the ritual sight were slain, and shortly thereafter surviving Drakescar across Lunedane fled using primal earth magic. Lunedane had been saved. As for Aydraen, he was also saved, albeit with wounds both in body and spirit. Silves Stormmoon’s compassion toward Aydraen convinced him to resign himself from resisting care. He surrendered to the Mithril Gryphons.

Where we leave off now is at the Shady Sanctuary, north of Lunedane. Everyone involved in the commission up till this point accepted lodging under the Green Dragonflight in order to recover for the next couple of days. Meanwhile, Etazius saw that his family retook Lunedane and the aftermath of the fighting was entirely cleaned up. Soon a meeting will be held to determine Aydraen’s past and present intentions, what to do next about Clan Drakescar, and Etazius wishes to reveal the circumstances behind his dragonflight being targeted by Primalists.

TLDR: Last week we had two roleplay sessions in Ohn’ahran Plains. Both had their focus around d20 combat. Our group defeated the enemy and saved a rival of theirs from demise. Next week looks to answer questions about the rivals intentions, how to defeat the enemy permanently, and more.

Thanks for reading! The next Weekly Bump will be early next week to share what happens in, “Guardians of the Dream I - Part III: Gnarled Hope.” Recruitment is open if anyone’s interested in joining us and getting involved going forward.

The Weekly Bump #3

Hi!

Here’s a recap of last week’s roleplay. Also, a few updates:

A new project of ours internally is a “Meet the Crew” section for our guild information. It’ll be posted here as a Weekly Bump once compiled. We collectively have around ten characters to share across roughly six players. Ideally the post will include them all. Hopefully half of them. :man_shrugging: It’s homework.

The OP of this thread got updated with a small addition on how members join the guild in-character. Basically, it’s a meet and greet. Nothing incredible, but it does a lot of good. :+1: Additionally, a postscript was added explaining our plans for the holiday season. :turkey: :santa:

Lastly, we’ve updated our D20 ruleset this week with the goal of improving combat encounter mechanics so they’re less bogged down. To read the ruleset you’ll have to join the guild. Can’t post everything we have on the forums. :stuck_out_tongue:

Guardians of the Dream I - Part III: Gnarled Hope

Last time with the Mithril Gryphons, the crew, Kindled, and Etazius convened at the Shady Sanctuary in western Ohn’ahran Plains to hold various discussions. For some, this was a long time reunion between old friends. Aydraen Bearbough, Silves Stormmoon, and Lenshi Brightpaw haven’t been acquaintances since the early days of the Fourth War.

The first discussion held was with Aydraen Bearbough on his past actions as a Primalist. Aydraen made his intentions clear and cleared up some of largest misconceptions. Joining the Primalists was a means to an end in his individual pursuit to rid Azeroth of Titan meddling. However, he is not suggesting a complete abolishment of their influence. He argues for moderation. Moderation that entities like the Titans or Old Gods do not govern by. There’s more to his beliefs but it was put aside in favor of discussing more pressing matters. It is likely a topic for another time.

The second discussion held was with Etazius on why the Green Dragonflight is under attack by the Primalists so frequently as of late. It is because a nascent world tree is seeded in the Emerald Dream that’ll soon flourish on Azeroth. Where the seed comes from and what it contains was then addressed by Silves and Aydraen. However, information quickly grew vague. Neither of them was privy to the finer details, despite both voyaging to the Shadowlands on separate occasions. Again, it’s likely a topic for another time.

The third and most prominent discussion held was on Clan Drakescar. Aydraen confirmed that Jomougrirm Drakescar’s whereabouts was likely at Stormshroud Peak in southern Thaldrazsus. The remainder of his clan would be hiding there in an old hideout of the Primalists founded during Raszageth’s leadership. The cavern will be heavily fortified with primal fire and earth incantations. It’ll take a mighty assault to breach inside and to defeat Jomougrirm Drakescar. The crew is hopeful that with a confident working plan and capable allies they’ll be able to bring Jomougrirm to justice.

Where we leave off now is with a period of contemplation and preparation. Contemplation over all our past discussions. Preparation for the assault on Clan Drakescar in the next few days. The expedition comes to a climax next time!

TLDR: Last week we had a roleplay session in Ohn’ahran Plains. It was a casual setting inside the Shady Sanctuary. Everyone involved held a lengthy conversation across several talking points. In the end, a plan was set in motion for next time.

Thanks for reading! The next Weekly Bump will be early next week to share what happens in, “Guardians of the Dream I - Part IV: Death to the Reds.” Recruitment is open if anyone’s interested in joining us and getting involved going forward. Read the OP for more info.

The Weekly Bump #4

Hi!

Here’s a recap of last week’s roleplay.

Last time with the Mithril Gryphons, the crew embarked to Stormshroud Peak in southern Thaldraszus in order to confront Jomougrirm Drakescar and the remainder of his clan of Primalist, dragonkin poachers. The battle was a harsh, multi-phased boss encounter involving the juggle of shadowflame motes, defeating ritualist reinforcements, and destroying totems. His death ended up being of his own volition; detonation as a living bomb of uncontrolled shadowflame. He took the cavern he was lodging and his clans valued possessions to the grave. His kin were either slain in battle or routed. Clan Drakescar has been defeated.

Funnily enough, a Dreamsurge was active in the zone during our two hours of roleplay. We often got joined OOC by many viridescent critters and other effects. :dracthyr_comfy_green:

Those in attendance were given the RP, IC title of, “Bane of Drakescar.”

Where we leave off now is everyone back at the guild hub, The Roost, in order to rest, chat, and think about future plans. Soon the nascent world tree within the Emerald Dream will beckon adventurers and heroes alike to help protect its sanctity from Fyrakk. Will the crew pursue such a call, or spend their time elsewhere?

TLDR: Last week we had a roleplay session in Thaldraszus. It was a d20 boss battle. In the end, they blew themselves up and we returned home the victors. Those involved were rewarded a title.

Thanks for reading! The next Weekly Bump will be early next week to share what happens in, “Guardians of the Dream I - Part V (Final): Sweet Dreams.” Recruitment is open if anyone’s interested in joining us and getting involved going forward. Read the OP for more info.

The Weekly Bump #5

Hi!

Here’s a recap of last week’s roleplay. Plus, two updates.

BlizzCon was awesome! We here loved everything that was shown. Super exciting. We’re likely to roleplay all across Khaz’Algar like we have with the Dragon Isles. More on that later next year.

We’ll have a stall open this week at The Uldum Bazaar, hosted by The Wastewander Nomads. You can find their thread here. We’ll be selling wares we’ve collected through roleplay on the Dragon Isles.

Last time with the Mithril Gryphons, we had a casual meeting at The Roost to conclude our time assisting Etazius. He first thanked the crew for providing aid in defeating Clan Drakescar, then offered them an opportunity to venture into the Emerald Dream to help defend Amirdrassil, which is now known by name. While most of us agreed openly to the offer of becoming Guardians of the Dream, some time will still be put aside for everyone to figure out their aspirations.

In between the chatter we had a feast put together by Lenshi Brightpaw. Following this we took some group photos outside. They turned out stellar!

Here’s a screenshot of our members in attendance. From left to right: Zevnynth, Xanthion, Malphur, Lenshi, Tramontane, Dzukasara. Spryspan is behind the camera.

TLDR: Last week we did casual RP at our guild hub in Thaldraszus. A mix of IC and OOC discussion about what we want to do following during and after our holiday break.

Thanks for reading! The next Weekly Bump will be early next week to post about our Uldum Bazaar experience.

The Weekly Bump #6

Hi!

The first week of our holiday break period has begun. Although, some scheduled RP stuff did still happen!

The Uldum Bazaar

The Mithril Gryphons had a venue at the Uldum Bazaar community event held by The Wastewander Nomads. We provided bazaar-goers loot procured from across the Dragon Isles. Our wares are a culmination of the guild’s success adventuring so far. Everything listed was, at some point, gathered through our role-playing sessions. Some have been referenced here in Weekly Bump #1. All of them came with an impromptu story if ever pressed to learn more.

Sold items ranged between Black Dragonflight armaments from the Waking Shores, profession materials procured in Ohn’ahran Plains, gems looted inside Azure Span, and some miscellaneous stuff from Thaldraszus, such as a bottle of temporal magic.

In total our income was 1034g 20s 00c. Quite the unexpected achievement! The gold will fill our guilds in-character coffers and fuel our development! Thank you to everyone that browsed our wares and perhaps bought something. Big thanks to Malphur for helping me run the stall with a silver-tongue.

TLDR: This week the guild was represented in the Uldum Bazaar community event. We sold wares that made us a total income of 1034g 20s 00c.

Thanks for reading! Next week’s post will either be a first post of “Meet the Crew”, or showing off our Roleplay Ruleset. Haven’t decided yet.

The Weekly Bump #7

Hi!

Week 2 of our holiday break and Season 3 of Dragonflight has begun! Those of us pushing content are doing so now.* The rest of us are either hanging out, questing, casual RPing, preparing for Thanksgiving, or doing other things. Whatever go’s~

*It’s worth mentioning here, because it’s not clear in the OP, that our guild doesn’t do PvX content. We’re strictly an RP guild. Those that do content do so on their own time. It’s fine as long as it doesn’t conflict with our own scheduled stuff. It usually doesn’t. :dracthyr_nod:

This week was some casual RP at the guild hub. One of our newest, Danaila Emberpalm, called some of the crew together to help begin installation on a teleportation network. Spryspan paid her a hefty 200 gold to get the entire project rolling. The process is a long one involving marble stone, blue and purple crystals, enchanted items, and using unbound arcane as a substitute for long rituals across multiple magi and several days. Lots of arcanist work here that only a professional like herself understands. More work is to be done in the future.

TLDR: We had a chill week doing a little bit of casual RP at our guild hub.

Thanks for reading! Next week’s post will be something to tie us over. It’s Thanksgiving week! :dracthyr_yay_animated:

I appreciate it as an outsider, just seeing some wholesome fun. Real good stuff!

The Weekly Bump #8

Hi!

Week 3 of our holiday break. Thanksgiving was great. No RP occured later in the week, but we did do some earlier on.

Also: The OP was updated. The, “Roleplaying Structure & Schedule,” section now includes an important note on Guild Activity.

Monday Market

The Mithril Gryphons had a presence at last week’s Stormwind Weekly Market. We essentially picked up where we left off at the Uldum Bazaar attempting to sell off goods we collated across the last 8 months of role-playing. We made a whopping 27g selling to two passersby. While our sales weren’t as hectic and profitable as at the bazaar, Zevnynth and I (Spryspan) gave it a go. It was our first time attending the market, too.

(No screenshot. Forgot to take one. :dracthyr_cry_animated:)

TLDR: Two of us took part in last week’s SW Weekly Market. Thanksgiving happened afterward, so no other RP to mention.

Thanks for reading! Next week’s post will hopefully be a follow-up to Weekly Bump #7’s roleplay. If not, the first edition of “Meet the Crew” instead.

The Weekly Bump #9

Hi!

Week 4 of our holiday break. The Season of Discovery began for Classic WoW. Nothing remarkable happened for us last week. December will be much of that for obvious reasons.

Meet the Crew

This week’s bump will share a brief description on two of our four dracthyr role-playing characters. Both can be frequently seen in screenshots shared here in the thread across previous posts.

Cynathal

  • Roleplayed by: Spryspan
  • Guild Rank: Researcher

Cynathal is an Evoker of the Obsidian Warders that suffers from a condition called Stunted Magick. This condition allows him to wield empowered dragon magic but at the cost of being unable to naturally regenerate his mana/essence through activities such as rest. Cynathal is a good-natured and friendly person that is often apprehensive about his feelings and stature as a soldier. He aspires to overcome Stunted Magick through any and all possible solutions. In the meantime, Cynathal eagerly works within the Dragonscale Expedition to explore the Dragon Isles and help rebuild the kingdom of the dragonflights.

Cynathal joined the Mithril Gryphons shortly after the Obsidian Warders joined the Alliance during a recruitment drive. He currently holds the rank of Researcher. The crew helps Cynathal work past his personal issues and build self confidence. They are all very dear friends to him he never would’ve imagined having before joining. What Cynathal to the crew is another thoughtful and analytical voice of reason. And when capable, his magic comes in clutch to turn the tide of battle.

Zevnynth

  • Roleplayed by: Zevnynth
  • Guild Rank: Explorer

Zevnynth stands out from a crowd, both literally and figuratively. A towering bulk of red-muscles, covered by a quilt of scars and ancient battle-wounds that suggest a reckless warrior - or one who is unafraid of pain. Though her eyes no longer function - and her wings are little more than tattered banners - her inner fire continues to smolder, undiminished by the long years of forced slumber. She remembers little of her old life or the old war she was once apart of. Yet she does not let that slow her down - after all, the ancient enemy is not yet totally vanquished and this new strange world is in need of defenders. A role Zevnynth is more than willing to fulfill.

Gravitating to the Mithril Gryphon’s after hearing tales and rumors of their exploits - she has found a new “wing” to call home. Although she has difficulty adjusting to this new world - with the strange new faces and stranger ways - she remains determined to make something of this “second-chance” she has been granted.

TLDR: Nothing happened last week. So here’s a segment on half of our guilds dracthyr.

Thanks for reading! Next week’s post will be about something!

The Weekly Bump #10

Hi!

Week 5 of our holiday break. By this time next month we’ll be back to our usual weekly roleplay. The schedule can be read about in the original post.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Anyone that has read the original post on Roleplaying Structure probably wonders what the heck does Choose Your Own Adventure entail. Expeditions? What are those? This week’s bump is to share more info on this stuff and give a few previews.

“Expeditions,” are short roleplay adventures that play out over the course of 1-8 weeks (“sessions”), depending on content. They are, “Choose Your Own Adventure,” in the sense that our members vote on what we pick to play. Members vote from a list of candidate options. As of this Weekly Bump there are 18 options our members will be picking from starting mid January. Here are three examples.

Guardians of the Dream II
The Mithril Gryphons travel to the Emerald Dream to defend Amirdrassil. The crew will have the choice in helping Etazius cultivate nature across the island (Exploration), or help Aydraen Bearbough defeat the Druids of the Flame (Combat). What will we do?

  • Duration: 4-5 Sessions
  • RP Types: Exploration, Combat
  • Rewards: “Guardian of the Dream” RP title.

Squabbles of Matrigold
Today is a special day for Matrigold Trading. Today the guild’s head, Charles Matrigold, will announce who the next head of his guild will be and then cordially inaugurate them. Many anticipate it’ll be the Charle’s daughter and the longtime poster child, the contentious Maria Matrigold. As their beneficiaries, the Mithril Gryphons are invited to come watch the ceremony and witness all of its surprises.

  • Duration: 2-3 Sessions
  • Encounter Types: Diplomacy, Mystery
  • Reward: Renown with Matrigold Trading.

Misadventure: Northern Kalimdor
The Mithril Gryphons will pick a zone in northern Kalimdor to go on a several week misadventure. This expedition is replayable to explore different regions.

  • Duration: 2-4 Sessions
  • RP Types: Diplomacy, Exploration, Research
  • Rewards: TBD

Most expeditions are a blend of 2-3 types of roleplay. Types include combat, diplomacy, exploration, mystery, and puzzle solving. Combat involves fighting enemies, typically with the objective of defeating them in some capacity. Diplomacy involves freeform open dialogue with NPC’s, such as to establish positive relations. Exploration involves freeform roleplay exploring a region, such as to sight see, conduct research, or reach a specific destination. Mystery involves the discovery of a puzzling situation and the group’s tasked with discovering its true narrative. Clues can be discovered with a blend of exploration, diplomacy, and or puzzle solving. Puzzle Solving encounters tests the group’s ingenuity and knowledge.

TLDR: Nothing happened in our guild last week, so this week’s post shares more about how we organize roleplay adventures for, “Choose Your Own Adventure.”

Thanks for reading! The next bump post will be in January rather than weekly, because of our continued downtime being uneventful. Running out of placeholder post ideas too. The next post will be the great return.
