Elden Ring has sold over 30 million units since 2022. The Souls game that came closest to that was Dark Souls 3 at 12 million.
George R.R. Martin’s name and a higher emphasis on advertising does not create that large of a difference in sales.
To be clear, I don’t think accessibility is the primary driver either. There are a multitude of reasons why Elden Ring sold as well as it did.
But accessibility is the door to getting people more interested in a game, so it does help quite considerably.
And no, I haven’t seen posts like that, but generally speaking I don’t most people vocalize such things unless specifically asked, so it’s a moot point to make.
