" The mount and toy datamined in beta:
Activision is turning the heat dial, and the toads haven’t even been placed in the water yet. Jump out of this style game while you can. Or don’t, but “Collector’s Editions” on old content and Microtransactions are symptoms of direct-through-Activision pay-to-play, free-to-play. Just wait for CoD-mode seasons!
The least Activision could do would be to provide a fresh set of servers. Economy reset. No Collector’s Edition. No retail-looking mounts and toys added to an old expansion that is still a part of retail. No 200K gold transfers. If you want RaF, great! It rolled out about three months prior to Wrath. If it was in the original TBC, I am all for it. Give us quality-of-life GMs that once very-much kept the economy under control. At the very least, blues, provide an option to forego all this new-mount non-sense… “We” know you are just warming up. I’d love a blue post on a set of fresh servers, and a good many of us have voiced this many times by now. Save yourself too much work and preserve your clients by starting a few servers clean?
Gamers are not stupid and especially players in my age group (30s+) who played and remember, many want clean and will jump ship if there can’t be a simple alternative."
Quote from the mount thread. I believe these two topics, fresh and the mount (and toy) are now, unfortunately for those of us who are promoting fresh servers, one subject. Activision’s drawing-out of the beta-business may happen as it prepares behind-the-scenes for an in-game (or maybe out of game, in the launcher) store. Or no store and only in the launcher so no one can complain about a “store” proper. Preserves the arguments of Activison-lovers: “Store? All I see is a launcher.”
I think we’ll hit 3K responses before we get any blue response, unfortunately. I guess Activision’s forum GMs don’t know or are not allowed to respond to the current state of the Collector’s Edition / Store-Forward game versus Fresh. Give us the opportunity for a primarily preserved TBC, or at least answer to the call.

fresh no boost/no transfer is already a big ask, considering they’re trying to stay in business, why would you add even more demands? you’re gonna scare them away from the idea entirely, if you also want to restrict sales of the collector’s edition. this is getting kinda over the top

(I was) Speaking to players who want to define fresh (this was on another thread). The discussion was turning to RaF / the original way vs. my desire for a set (and I put emphasis on that) of fresh servers (the least Activision could do), as we are discussing here.
I don’t think they will stop at a “Collector’s Edition.” That is the least it will be, so I am calling it a “Collector’s Edition.” It will likely become a full-blown store.
I don’t feel a fresh / no boost / no transfer is “already a big ask.” Pretty primordial in my opinion. In fact, the only thing we are asking for is an economy reset to level 1. Rules and regulation enforcement with on-site GMs would be great, as they were an original part of the expansion and mitigated so much damage.
Notice that I said, this style game. Or don’t…
mr. kotick has reportedly taken a 50% cut in pay. most of their staff has been fired and most of their upper management at blizz has vacated as well. they’ve lost investors because of hong kong, billions of people, globally, have lost their jobs and less likely to have the income to pay for internet, much less a game. the usa is in a depression, as is europe. you want my thoughts on it – i think they’re panicking.

Glad to be part of this club! Blizzard/ activision should have no trouble rolling our a small group of fresh start servers. if they dont even address this situation i dont know how i will feel about the company anymore. im not one to throw that out very often but when its merited i will gladly let them know they are making a huge mistake. the crazy thing is were not trying to mess up the the non fresh servers, we just want our own option. and were getting completely ignored by the dev team. even just a professional shout out saying hey we see you guys, give us time… anything is better than pure silence at this point… really unprofessional to ignore a large amount of users asking for a legitimate service within the “product” we pay for. The way i see it is like this: If they can cater to a certain group of people wanting a MAJOR change such as boosting characters… THEN we should have no problem getting fresh servers. seems pretty simple.
edit: I had 100 days played in phase 2, i hit warlord in classic. im one of those people… when i want to be… I want fresh servers because the economy is really really messed up. you think i wanna throw away my warlord gear or title? you think i dont want that swag that i EARNED… yeah man i let it all go for a chance to ACTUALLY have fun with an authentic version of TBC. this is not an authentic version of what TBC can and should be.

I do not think they are in a panic at all, I am pretty sure that the pandemic benefited them a lot, and it showed the potential of the video game industry to investors.
What’s more, the controversial 200 million bonus was because they far exceeded revenue expectations and they rewarded him with that.

since then, he’s been bumped down 50%. i dont think they’ll close their doors as long as there are employees to fire. but mr. kotick is likely to leave also if his pay dips too far. we gotta give the investors reasons to keep the doors open

Lilock, I’d love to tell every gamer this right now so I don’t have to be fresh’s ambassador:
Activision owns the name “Blizzard,” and they aren’t hurting for cash…

While i dont know what is really going on at blizzard, I think they reduced that bonus to appease the community and improve the image of the company, there was a huge outrage because of it.
i dont really think they are having money problems, the opposite actually.

This! And it is pretty simple! You said it. This post alone, not counting the ones fighting boosts and the mount and the toy… And zero blue response to fresh. And this will not hurt their pockets. I said it before and I’ll say it again, even though I pay for this, I’d pay a little extra for Preservation / Fresh servers. Thanks so much for the input, Roodjay! You are not alone.

why fire nearly 1000 employees since 2019? why did all the big names hop ship? i think they are counting on tbc to keep the initial glut from shadowlands and classic going but it has yet to generate the same hype that they did.
I agree with most every one of your posts!
It is the opposite as far as financial concerns. The retail store alone… Good gravy… WoW tokens sell instantly, then people buy another, and another… Like drugs.
Activision simply feels, I suppose, that they can milk the “Classic” community more. You better believe there are MANY at Activision who are professionals at digging into your pocket book and know just how everything is sorted, too.
Activision: “Hi there singular engineer. Could you do me a favor this week. Have a warpstalker model or two on my table by the end of the week.”
Engineer on Friday: “Here you go.”
Engineer generates millions before the release of the product.

They fired mostly people of customer service and their esport departament, the reason is pretty simple, they implemented AI to replace those employees, now a days everthing is automated. Obviously the service we players get is worse, but they dont care because we are stil paying.

shadowlands has lost over half of the subs.

You should be very careful about believing what you hear; even numbers and statistics can be manipulated, by the way. Asmongold…I just don’t follow all these YouTubers. They make their own bones just making videos about the state of WoW. Here many in the fresh community are talking on the actual forums while attempting to be as accurate as possible.
Yep.
A part of me really wish blizzard were having problems, because if they were they would strive to improve the game but the sad reality is that most wow players are so used to playing wow that they cant even imagine themselves playing another game.
So blizzard dont really have much pressure to actually improve their product/service.
They care about numbers, and if their numbers are ok then to them that means their game is ok.

all i’m saying is i think they’re panicking so they’re risking losing more subs in order to tap into classic players gaming money. some think its greed, i think its panic.
Half of six million is still three million on that game alone, and the ones still playing are able to make up for the ones lost don’t you worry yourself. Activision DOES NOT need our help. We’re sitting here waiting on a blue post, but they’ll keep the ancient WoW business going just fine, especially with TBC.
They don’t need people on the pay roll for the forums, obviously. As the game inevitably becomes dated (there is nothing anyone can do about that) they’ll keep just what they need. They got a big wave of players that hopped to “Classic,” and now they are hungry at the prospect of TBC.
Don’t feel for Activision. They don’t feel for you.
Activision is an old business. Ancient. We in this community don’t want all the extra nonsense, and that is why I am referring to the new mount, etc. Anything extra put in the game we do not want put into a pure TBC relaunch. Trying to make that clear.
