A Dungeon Requirement for Campaign Progress?

I was agreeing with you, and pointing out the hypocrisy of raiders and dungeoneers who moan when they feel forced to do anything they don’t like but it’s ok to force others to do content they don’t like.

Sure it does.

Let me give you an example, which will probably go over your head as well.

An amusement park, charges for admission. Think of Dungeons as the Slingshot ride that shoots you into the air. Now, you might enjoy that ride, and it is the main reason why you go there. But there are people that go to the park to enjoy rides that do not leave the ground and also enjoy other aspects of the park.

Imagine once you gain admission and in order to walk further into the park everyone is forced to go on the Slingshot before going elsewhere. While you might not care, there would be people that would NOT go any further.

The base campaign is like the walk in the amusement park.

Always a stupid reply to this type of thing. Group content is a requirement as an option in an MMO, it should never be forced in a solo story campaign though.

I hate questing and I’ve got to still do them. You’ll survive one dungeon.

Uhh… Legion had dungeons required for the main campaign.

At a bare minimum you had to do Eye of Azshara to get the tidestone and Neltharion’s Lair to get the Hammer.

Then your class campaigns would have sent you to all of the main dungeons at least once (and I think you also need to do them again on heroic), and you would have needed to run Chapel of Night or whatever it was called for the Legionfall campaign.

And Legion is considered by a lot of people to be one of the more solo friendly expansions we’ve had.

It’s almost like they design the dungeons to be intertwined with the story for that zone. UwU I couldn’t imagine grouping with randoms and completing it within 15 mins .

Evidently youre not the only one irritated about the requirement

exactly.
I got a dollar that says some who were whining in here a while back about having to do side questing to get to max so they could get to their precious end game are in here right now whining about someone else whining that they have to do a dungeon, lol.

They should bring back more elite quests and force players to group more

Since vanilla that exist this kind of missions.
Not only story quests, but also profession quests that send you to dungeons …

It is an mmorpg.
Normally when you are asked to save someone or look for some mysterious object it is always in a dungeon…

For a second imagine how ridiculous it would be if in Diablo 2, instead of going to Sanctuary to fight Diablo, the place to fight is on a beach with the sun on the horizon and the water wetting your feet.

Zero immersion.

You’ve got to be trolling. All 4 Legion zones’ stories ENDED with a dungeon. That’s how you got the artifacts! (Except the Tears of Elune, I’ll admit). I don’t know much more you could say dungeons are a requirement of the story than that.

To get loremaster of dragonflight you’ll have to do all new dungeon in those zones.

Do them on normal, it will be a walk in the park.

I mean FFXIV used to do the same thing. The developers however were smart enough to have dungeon scaling and incentives so higher level players will always have a reason to do old content (once it becomes out dated).

With that said, using FFXIV as an example they recently just made it so you can do most campaign dungeon content with NPCs as well.

It’s not the worst idea to have an MMO where the main story is single player and the multiplayer content is strictly multiplayer content.

After all, we’re logging into a virtual world - the incentive should be we want to log in for different reasons to do different things depending on our mood.

I like crafting sometimes - I wouldn’t want to be qued into a “crafting dungeon” to do it.

It’s very quick, queue up for a normal and boom, it’s done; I’m actually glad they’re making dungeons important to questlines again!

there shouldnt be any optional questing.
Everyone should have to do EVERY quest BEFORE getting into any end game content.

They have been doing quests like this since…Vanilla. It’ not a new concept they just added to this expansion. They just were never designated as “Campaign quests” with a special icon on them. There have always been quests leading to dungeons that were part of the main storyline.

They musta changed half way thru or something. I got mine from some solo questlines

I wonder at what ilvl will it be possible to solo that encounter? It’s just the first boss of the dungeon isn’t it?

Why am I required to log into the game to get full Mythic Gear?
Remove this and just equip my character, for Odin’s flaming beard!

They meant the pillars we were collecting from the four zones.
