Please, for everyone who wants to be disrespectful or start problems, please, just don’t bother.
For those who have serious and informative responses, I welcome your replies.
I would like to create a Christian themed guild. What are the rules from Blizzard that I would have to abide by? It would be family-friendly obviously, so that throws out any sort of sexual talk, etc…I would not deny anyone joining but I do feel I would have to remove members who disrespect Christianity, etc…I just don’t want to get reported or banned. Thanks for any helpful advice.

I think you can just make it.

Pretty sure you don’t have to abide by any rules as long as the name isn’t offensive.
can i be a guild nun who hits people’s fingers with rulers?

It’s quite simple; you treat others how you wish to be treated, act mature instead of simply reacting, respect the beliefs of those whom you come into contact with, do not spam Trade, General, or public channels with gospel.
Do all of the above and you’ll be fine!

This is fine as long as you don’t offend anyone, and still play the game and not just talk about Jesus.

Pretty much this. There aren’t any special rules for it; just follow the same basics you would anyways and you’ll be fine.
Blizz tends to be pretty hands off with things like guild and raid management; even if someone complains that kicking them was unfair they’ll generally be told that it’s up to the guild leader’s discretion.
I would just remember that there are plenty of trolls around so you’ll probably get crap if you’re open about being a religious guild.

Years ago a guild got in trouble for only recruiting LGBT or LGBT friendly members? If you discriminate against certain groups of people, I think you’ll start to have problems. I’d have to read the old articles about it…
Many guilds do that. There’s no rules against only inviting people you want in your guild as long as you’re not also calling them slurs or something when you reject their application.

I don’t see why not. Never seen anyone get in trouble for only recruiting those who are like minded.
Wait really? I’ll admit i’ve been on a break from the game for awhile but this is the first time i’ve ever heard this.
Not going to lie, you’re going to get resistance.
Not only from communities, but also from Blizzard themselves. You can’t name your guild after religious movements or figures, you can be reported and forced to disband if your guild breaks too many rules or becomes extremely problematic, and on top of all of that, you’ll face opposition from your own server communities, because, let’s face it, guilds based around real world religions and their values go over about as well with most folks as stepping on a sharp lego in the dark at 3 in the morning.
You’re far better off, in my opinion, keeping religion out of the game and out of any guild. Stick to local churches, where you know folks are going to be receptive and aren’t trolls just trying to cause drama. Obviously churches might be a problem right now, but online church groups and hangouts could happen and would be better for sating religious needs than a WoW guild.

not sure why this needed a thread… unless the intention was to cause drama?
all the relevant information is available within the support articles, via the support link at the top of the page.

I’m trying to be completely fair here, but I don’t detect any intention of that in the OP.

It was in early wow days… Google “Blizzard bans recruiting for gay guild.” I’ve been around forever, so I didn’t realize it was THAT long ago (2006).
If a guild invites harassment - Blizzard may intervene.

To be fair, you are posting in the General Discussion it’s not the right climate for guild formation…
People might misinterpret you, in anyway that it is possible to.
the fact that they opened with that, is what made me question their intent.

Found an article about it. It also said that it was illegal under US anti-discrimination laws.
Not sure if that would apply to religion though.
The intention was not to cause drama. I hate drama. If you could point me to the proper articles, I would appreciate it. I looked for a guild specific forum, but only saw ones for recruiting.
