A lot of us can only get on in the evening, and with the game matching a real day/night cycle, it’s kind of depressing always being nighttime. Can we go with a 12 hour cycle or something instead of 24?

I don’t remember it being a 24 hour cycle, but for some reason I remember it being a lot shorter… like 4 hours or something like that…
I may be very wrong, but that sticks out in my mind for some reason.
I could be thinking of the wrong game too, but I’m pretty sure it was this one
I really don’t remember for certain but it sure seems like the day / night cycle was short… Short enough that it stuck out in my memory.

If that’s the case, I have to wonder why they would put it onto a 24 hour cycle.
No idea, because a shorter cycle actually makes sense when you think about it… Because then you get to experience both night and day when you play VS whatever time of the day it is…
Agreed. It also stops the current issue our Aussie friends on retail are experiencing with a permanent night. Not fair to those guys or others that work a night shift so I hope you’re correct on the short cycles.

I think it’s more 16 hours then 24 though you could also play on EU and OCE if you want to spice it up.

Join a server on a different time zone. I always see Australians on us realms for this reason.

Better yet, each zone has its own time zone so we can do math and estimate Azeroth’s circumference.

I could be thinking of a different game entirely, memory is funny like that.
When I tried FFXIV it ran its day and night cycle pretty quickly.
I know that from memory because I really liked that it matched real time. But John Staats’s ‘WoW Diary’ confirms it.
I honestly don’t know if it’s still a 24 hour cycle. I stopped paying attention when day and night started looking basically the same.

Several older mmo’s did shorter day / night cycles; I could be thinking of one of them for sure… Not sure why I remember Vanilla like that.
Starwars Galaxies had short day cycles as well.

It’s gotta be one of the other games I was playing that blended in some how.
I know I have blended some TBC memories into Vanilla;;;; some how…
I hear yea, I’m sure you have quite a history with games played. It’s hard to keep them all sorted, especially over ~15+ years.
