Yes, you can play other games with the same group while WoW is up.
If you want it in-game, addons are the way to go.
Could also play LOLPVP with the Day of the dead wrestling outfits.

Will check these out, would love to play gin or Euchre with friends in an Inn, or better yet, in the Inn at my garrison.
Yeah, Blizzard is failing hard to see the opportunity here for more interactions than their base game, unless there is some licensing issues entailed.
They have already proven they can make nice, fun minigames, but they tend to both forget about them later and focus on the single player aspect with no multiplayer interaction whatsoever, not even a scoreboard.

They could add a chess table toy
Back before WoW, EQ had /gems in game which was basically bejeweled with different icons. I’m surprised WoW hasn’t made a tie-in with King through something like /Candycrush.

Bro tab out and play some chess or something. Open up your phone and play a round of battlegrounds on HS while you wait. The options are nearly limitless without needing something integrated into WoW.
I guess I just think it’s easier now with smart phones and better computers to do something else without integration into the game but I don’t think this is all that necessary.
Pretty soon we’re going to have people with VR headsets missing a rez because they were scrolling Twitter with their eyes between wipes.

I agree, but they do a lot of tie-ins with their other products so it seems like something that they would potentially do.
/gems in EQ stemmed from how long it took to regain health/mana in the way back times. It was meant to be social interaction time, but solo players got bored and also ordered /pizza.
When the game released it was full screen only. That command opened a browser to Pizza Hut without having to exit the game. I used it more than once.

Yeah that kind of thing had its day because of certain limitations. I’ve heard of the /pizza thing in EQ but never did experience it. I don’t think there is a huge issue these days with options to distract yourself while playing/lobbying like there was at that time.
Pre-WoW my MMO experience was Ultima Online and Asheron’s Call. Never have tried EQ.
Not to be rude about it but it’s kind of like asking for a /pizza option in WoW. Who needs that?
