Other MMOs designed it that way from the beginning. WoW did not.
To add a dye system Blizz would have to go back and rework every piece of gear in the entire game. Which is total insanity how much work that is, they have better things to do. Dyes also greatly devalue all the recolors we already have and achieving them from different content levels.
It just doesnât work for WoW. I think we have to accept itâll never be a thing.
Thatâd take the art department likely years just to do this. Iâd like an expansion before 2030 just so you can dye gear and canât understand the concept of technical debt.
Mind you, thatâs certainly feasible. Feel free to bash away on them for this though.
But what about content patches and expansions? It takes time to redesign a system and make sure it works over the various years of released gear.
Not only that â but now you would have to figure out how to differential rewards for PvP and Raids now. Which is also more time.
You act like this would take a month, when realistically this may take a year+ at minimum due to the amount of planning and modification needed for it to work.
I am still amazed that WoW doesnât have an armor dye system. Hell even Diablo III has had it for a long while now⌠Speaking of which, I would really like our âgear exchangeâ system to work more like the one in Diablo III. There if you have an armor piece in more than one set but it uses different gems in each, it will remember that and put the correct gems in place when it equips the item.
Then you go ahead and settle for less for your money.
As it is now with how theyâre releasing content patches your not getting what you paid for anyways so you do you and make excuses for them, Iâm not.
Seeing as we are getting a 9.2 content teaser via your own thread â this comes off as a brain dead take since you counterpoint yourself.
Bro, you just made the argument of âwe arent getting our moneys worth so they should make an intensive content delay to make armor dyeable â making it even less moneys worth until the new system is in.â What? Do you even read what you type?
Itâll just be a preview of the next raid and possibly a new dungeon or zone. Obviously that will come with new cosmetics as well. Outside of that is pie in the sky thinking.
They can release content on time and create new innovative add ons to the engine. How they choose to manage their time and resources is not my concern but they if they want to stay competitive and keep the money coming in theyâll adjust fire.
However with customers like you is probably why we wonât.
You should volunteer to help in the recreation of every single piece of armor in the game it would require.
Itâs going to be quite the undertaking. And thereâs no financial incentive for Blizz to do it, but maybe if they got some volunteers to do the workâŚ
If you honestly think that a system of this size to be redone for 17+ years of appearances along with planning new rewards for raids/PvP to differential isnt going to take away a massive amount of dev time â then you really dont know what you are asking for and is obvious.
So what Iâm getting is that you donât actually want to help, you just want to sit behind your keyboard and tell Blizz how to run their game.
Hope that works out for you.
