Any mounts I can get would be just lovely. I mostly want to explore the islands because I never had enough time to look at everything.

That’s an exaggeration. Every week that goes by, earlier renown levels are easier and easier to get.
Up until a certain point, every calling, and every weekly quest gives Renown, so up until you hit that renown level (not sure where it is now), you get 7 callings + 3 weekly quests per week, and Torghast will give Renown in 9.1.5. Without Torghast, and without doing dungeons, you can get 10 renown for 1 week.
So, you get to 40 instantly and you can get 50 by the end of that first week, and maybe even 60 on the week after.
20 weeks is a gross exaggeration.
And besides, most of the “good stuff” is before 40. Only a few things, mostly story-related (which you’ll likely skip on alts anyhow) is after 40 and even then, most of that is gotten by 60.
Anyhow, my list?
1). The buff to ToF would be awesome if I actually had characters <60. All of mine are 60, sadly, so I won’t see the better weapons. Blah. lol.
2). MAW INTRO SKIP. Frick yes. This needed to happen a year ago. Most of my alts are waiting in Azeroth, still. Yes they are 60. In Azeroth.
3). Faster renown gains, a reason to do the occasional Torghast run. Torghast is something I don’t mind doing every now-and-then, but when it only gave Soul Ash and nothing else, I couldn’t find a reason to do it as I had no plans of grinding leggos.
4). Better Korthia BoA systems. Now I might actually care about Stygia and the Korthia Tokens.
5). Doing the 20 soul weekly in Torghast. Yet another reason to go to Torghast and it sure beats whacking stones to get souls out while having to kill a bunch of stupid trash mobs that constantly pester you. At least in Torghast everything dies in 5 seconds.
How much faster do you think the leveling will be with the new heirlooms and the buff to threads of fate?
This is going to be clutch because sometimes when I explode somebody in PvP and they get super triggered they log over and put me on ignore and THEN message me to talk smack and I don’t get to say “LOLOL BRO U MAD?!?!”
So Will existing armaments be able to be used in certain slots or will all NEW or vendor-purchased armaments be able to be redeemed for specific slots?
If we can use the 40 renown token right away and then gain renown leveling from 50-60 then we’d probably be at least 50-60 RENOWN by the time we hit 60 one would hope?
Even if not, once you get Lv60, you can start doing callings which gives Renown up to a certain point, so 7 callings a week + soul weekly + anima weekly + korthia weekly… well.
Getting 60+ won’t take long. At all.
Oh, and Renown from Torghast which you can also do for the Soul weekly.

But wasn’t development thrown way off schedule by COVID since development was so much more effective in an office setting? Surely they adapter but one would assume putting out a quality product in a WFH environment has significant headwinds….
I hate to be “the guy” who does this, but…
FFXIV’s devteam had to go WFH for awhile there during C19, and this was smack dab in the middle of Shadowbringers.
Ask any XIV player if they thought Patch 5.0 to 5.3 was lacking in any way.
I’ll tell you the answer that 90%+ of them are going to tell you: Absolutely Not.
WFH is not an excuse.

Why would you unsubscribe? Did you think they were going to go back on their word and make limited-time rewards return and deal with the resulting player dissatisfaction?
I think they made a good choice because the backlash they would have gotten from doing that and then the emboldened players would ask them to make old Elite PvP sets and Gladiator mounts achievable again for marks of honor or something stupid like that.
Are you not confident you’d be able to complete the challenges without the covenant/soulbinds?

I have lfr gear a few pieces of low level korthia gear and that’s the best ill ever be able to get. If the tower is over tuned like I’m expecting it to be given blizzs track record, there ain’t no way ill be soloing it. I need my covenant abilities and soulbinds. Without it I’m dead in the water.
Unholy doesn’t have the greatest survivability so ill need shackle the unworthy for damage reduction and the steward vial for extra healing. Bron will also be a big help too.
Covid isn’t an excuse, they never deliver a proper product, it isn’t 'till a year plus later that they say ‘‘oopsie, we messed up btu heres a retention patch’’.

What’s stopping you from going 4/6 Korthia in all slots? You don’t need to do much of any Korthia grinding to do that, and that’s 226.

Barely reached rank 3 and that took way too long. Which is why im not bothering with it on my alts. The time it takes to raise the scholars rep bar is ridiculous.

I don’t care about the rewards, I never have and I have made that clear in multiple posts. See following:
I unsubbed because it will not be available with 9.1.5 which is the subject of the thread and the reason I was staying subbed after getting the feline familiar during Hallows End.
So I unsubbed and, frankly, the more I think about it, the more disappointed I am about how they choose to implement it as Timewalking so I may not even come back in December to try it.
This game is in such a turd state if people feel the need to make “positivity” threads for the upcoming patch. Maybe we should all get together and have a candlelight vigil in front of Blizzard HQ or sacrifice some chickens too.
