It’s pretty easy to see why fire was so busted especially with sub. I agree assassination is going to be nutty asf.
But I feel spriest is a better option for them. Unlimited purge and mind games is too strong. Not to mention more ultity for kills like mass dispell etc

fire mage was strong without sub rogue tho, sp mage, mage ele, mage warrior, mage ww all come to mind. mage and sp will both be s tier but i dont think sp is gonna be clearly better than mage

Tbh i think fire will still be the spec most played for mage. People dont really like frost. It has alot of control but its harder to sheep, has less burst, doesnt have klepto for the incoming RDRUID meta, and also isnt quite as survivable as the other two specs.
Not to mention, when you play for dampening, naturally, you have a higher chance of losing. It seems that the general consensus is people find the frost mage playstyle boring.
People would rather play fire mage rogue even if its slightly not as good as frost.
but rdruid being good is a direct buff to frost mage, everyones gonna get damped by frost mage druid x
That game plan wont work as well against a Dk/DH cleave meta, or Spriest/boomie/rsham meta where all of ur hots are purged nonstop.
i mean thr r specific matchups that can beat mage druid sure i wont argue that, but the strength of frost mage rdruid synergy just wont be deleted by dk cleaves or sp shaman existing
Dk cleaves will be very popular trust me. That 5 second silence is game breaking for them.
The 2nd biggest factor is like I already said actually, Mage mains Hateeeeee the frost mage platystyle. They despise it. Maybe the aff lock players will become frost mage mains but I doubt it.
Mage mains love burst. Hard fast goes and resetting.
well good mages r gonna play the meta spec and the meta spec is gonna be frost mage, dks getting strangulate is also a counter to every other wizard not just mage so idk what that has to do with mage being powerful
well xaryu , arguably the best mage, one of the best at least, said he would rather quit the game then play frost.
Hansol said the same. He’d only play TBC frost, hed rather quit retail.
Venruki seems to be OK with frost but i doubt hell enjoy it after a month.
Besides the best players only make up a extremely small portion of pvp community, and what they play wont dictate everyone elses decision.

Yeah but alot of mages feel the same way he does. And not true. He started playing fire after they removed deep freeze and frost became a control spec.
