Seems to me, reading through all this, that the issue is that when you go to unlock rank 8 currently, you will NOT have elite extermination unlocked on a new alt because you haven’t done as many runs now with the new system (compared to before with the old system) when unlocking the first seven ranks.
And if you do not have elite extermination unlocked by the time you go for rank 8, doing a full clear would be a significant challenge.
Or am I missing something here?

Fortunately, skipping 8.3 remains easy and effective.
So I just checked on an alt that’s still at rank 10, and their research is 2/3 of the tier past Elite Extermination with 0 progress on the quest to get rank 11. Apparently this is even more of a non-issue than I initially thought…
It is. I made a demon hunter my side project. Got her geared to 460+ (from freshly leveled), and achieved Mad World in 3 weeks. That’s as havoc, mind you.
I didn’t really start pulling big until I got TD and switched to Vengeance, as Havoc I did each pack on their own, but I also did all the stuff Shadina just mentioned with the potions on the ground and consumables.
There’s also buffs you can get from killing certain NPCs. The blacksmith in Org or the clickable portal thing in the transmog building are good examples.
You should add Shadina and accept his offer to help you. Vision runs were difficult for me to for a bit until I learned the exact ins and outs of both vision scenarios and it doesn’t take long to get it down.
Nobody here is intentionally trying to put you down or hurt your feelings. I’d love to see you get it done and feel accomplished!!
All that said yes it’s gonna take the 4 pages which is still a great improvement by the way and blizz didn’t just make them all 2 pages but that’s ok that’s been identified and now a different solution is being discussed!!

It’s honestly one of the easiest ones I’ve done it on, but I was also maining Havoc until I joined a new guild and became MT.
Yeah I’ve only tried it on Balance Druid and Elemental Shaman other than my Priest and they both felt a bit easier… it could have just been experience with it before I did them. Melee with interrupts should be easier… what was hardest for me in the beginning was Silence being on a 30s cd and the mobs that do Sanity drains.
Yeah I had a few issues early on with my mage, it sorted itself out eventually though.
What ilvl would you suggest for that or is in your mind for that?
I was doing it no problem at 445-455.
Ehh some specs I tried struggle with it more then others. And I get distracted with chests and mount % to not want to skip mailboxes for faster clears. I guess I would take more time with the rank 15 as it gets boring doing them over and over again.
421 fury warrior full cleared. Grain of salt, got 2 440 weapons, but still cleared.
Without the elite extermination I doubt many alts will be able to full clear, hell even just pushing into a third zone feels relatively challenging (albeit I bet you could probably do it). I got the talent on my hunter today and was able to follow it up with a full clear, but not gonna lie I wish I was recording because good lord was I living life on the edge letting my sanity drop to 1-30 a solid 3 times right before I killed an elite.
I’m not sure if it’s a problem though, but we’ll see. My hunter was on the cusp of the talent so I haven’t felt the impact of going from 1-8 so quickly with a fresh toon and how far off the talent is.

Is it supposed to be this huge grind or am I doing it wrong? I went from 1 to 5 on my cloak and I only got 4 points in. Im getting the tiniest amount of mementos.

By the time I got to 8, I was able to do a full clear.
The more you clear the more you get. I think I got about 900 when I did 2 extra areas + boss and then did a full clear that gave even more. If you’re just going in and nuking the boss you’re not going to get much.
I guess it can be done in one run but I couldn’t do a full run until I was rank 9
