Yeah they need to improve. But they are too concerned with fist bump moments and rule of cool than they are creating a better game world. This is why they can’t write good relationships, or at least a major contributing factor to it. It’s basically, “Hah! Relationships? Lame. A relationship are merely attachments to the character we might use later to make them angst around or act foolish, otherwise they or the relationship itself will be in the background and won’t matter much if at all.”
Edit for Dawnblood’s post: Even if we don’t assume Blizzard is malicious about it, it at least shows they make light of it for it to be at the butt of the joke. They may not have meant it in a bad way but intentions are not the only thing that matter. They should know better. And it’s not that you can’t make jokes, it’s that jokes have to be in good taste. And a good joke punches UP it doesn’t punch down.
