If you have to set up a VPN just to get the game to work as intended then the issues is NOT your ISP. It is clearly an issue with the service provider (Blizzard).

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

If it was Blizzard, the path taken to them wouldn’t matter; no path would work.

But here we have examples of an app that reroutes the connection and it works.

So many people have a complete fundamental lack of understanding about how the internet works. Sigh.

Ok, some troubleshooting I did - (I use Fios)
Changed my DNS to Cloudflare DNS and Google Public DNS made no difference
Set up my Sprint mobile phone as a hotspot and connected my laptop - made no difference.
Sometimes I can get in but can’t interact with the world, ie no flying, no portals, no mobs. Sometimes I get the character select and it’s just a black screen, and sometimes it dies trying to connect to the server.

So ONLY WoW isn’t connecting. that’s what ive said. Im on the forums with my gaming PC, posting. i have World of Tanks opened and playing. i try to get on WoW and what do you know i can pick a character. but, if i try to go any further (ie. log on with that character and WHAM!!! it strikes again) I cant get past the character login screen and on the off chance i get through. The Lag in game is SOO bad i cant do anything. tell me again how that is my ISP. I can stream through my ISP. I can make posts on the forum through my ISP. I can play other games through my ISP. But I cant play WoW on my ISP. yea, i can see how this is their fault

DId you contact your ISP to tell them Blizzard wants them to correct the problem?

Im in us and have gotten stuck at log in server multiple times today. Blizzard seems to screw up isp on a weekly basis. i am a mythic raid lead and at least twice a month i lose 1-2 raiders to ridiculous isp issues. Hire some better Network engineers you monkeys.

Shouldn’t have to use a third party app to get to blizzard’s servers, especially since the PTR servers work just fine. Oh well. Still believe its an authentication issue on blizzard’s side but I have no idea. Could be that since a vpn is a secured connection its authentication goes through a different port or route but again thats a guess.
