I think the premise was that attacking him in his own base surrounded by his people was too risking, but that he didn’t dare go our and meet the two of them.
I thought the same thing in the Sylvanas + Saurfang Vr Malfurion fight.
Me too.
“I think that Tyrande should roflstomp Nathanos.”
“But then Nathanos is a trivial threat to her and it undermines the conflict of the story.”
“Your answer is dumb.”
Everyone is actually dumber for your misuse of that meme.
Yeah, the Alliance heroes have all been made noble good guys (including Jaina “I tried to do the same thing as Sylvanas” Proudmoore) and Malfurion is being set up as the uber hero. This is all compensation for our “enjoyment” of being made the villains in our own story.
I think most people would have preferred that version. But unfortunately, BFA’s writers aren’t good.
I though the whole point of Nathanos was his intelligence and ranger powers.
He is not a great mage or have any powers besides a regular undead human strenght.
Infact everyone says he is a great general.
What do generals do? Lead armies.
So how about instead of pretending Nathanos is some great warrior capable of soloing a god’s avatar we actually highlight his threat as a GENERAL and STRATEGIST that LEADS armies against Tyrande and her forces and out maneuvers them in their own home-field.
Gee. I wonder which outcome is more consistent with the lore.
Alliance spin not withstanding, we lost at Undercity (we were forced to destroy our own faction capital in a failed attempt to set a trap, “FOR THE HORDE”).
Then we go through three zones of questing where we fail to stop G’hun.
Now the Alliance gets to take the initiative because of our nonexistent fist-pump moment.
The problem here was that people were expecting the pay off from the whole Night Warrior ritual to be an absolute victory for the Night Elves.
What they dont’ seem to understand is that the pay off is putting them back in the game for Kalimdor at all.
Nathanos’ power level is directly related to the amount of threads made complaining about him. You guys only have yourselves to blame.
The Horde did not lose Undercity. They weaponized it and then abandoned it.
It’s actually a resounding success, the only thing it failed to do was ending the war right then and there.
The whole point of Nathanos in vanilla is that he soloed 40-man raid parties of Alliance players. And in this scenario, he has a Val’kyr empowering him, if I’m not mistaken. And he has ranger powers.
Doesn’t mean he can’t hang back and fight as a general now that the scenario is over and he can reexamine his tactics now that he’s lost to Tyrande and Malfurion despite “being able to solo them” allegedly.
…After the Alliance were in a position to actually take it, so they made like Russia and opted to burn the proverbial fields behind their retreat.
…Which still includes losing the Undercity.
Literally means nothing.
Genn could also be a raid boss and he still can’t do crap to Tyrande.
If you wanted someone to go toe to toe against Tyrande maybe you should have brought out Thalyssra, Aethas, Drekthar or better yet Thrall.
Not frigging Nathanos.
That was literally their plan. Horde did not lose that battle.
Even Ion says that was a victory for the Horde.
Literally means that he’s a raid boss and an infamous one at that.
That’s not insignificant no matter how you spin it.
And he has a Val’kyr giving him a boost in his corner, without which he indeed cannot “solo” Tyrande and Malfurion.
Like an actual victory, or a Pyrrhic victory?
Again, doesn’t mean that they didn’t lose it. I mean, if they intended to just abandon it entirely, then putting up the defense they did would’ve been pointless to that end.
Drekthar is in a wheelchair for crying out loud. Lets forget about how weird it would be for either of them to be in the Darkshore, didn’t Thrall lose his super duper OP shaman powers?
All faction leaders of one range or another can become raid bosses. The fact that he is was/is one does not mean according to LORE (look where you are) he is anywhere near Tyrande or Malfurion.
No an actual victory. The Horde won.
The evacuated everyone, including their army (Currently in Arathi).
Denied the region to Alliance and took as many as they could with them.
The only thing it failed to do was to kill most of the Alliance leadership right then and there.
With the way the flight plays out now, Nathanos already isn’t a credible ongoing counter to either of them. He wasn’t a match for them while empowered by two Val’kyr, and with one of said Val’kyr being killed in that very fight and Nathanos having to retreat because of it, Nathanos doesn’t even have the means to stand up to them as a credible threat as is.
maybe blizzard should have thinked twice before making the horde start a war versus a far superior force and yet here we are.
