lightboar (holy quillboar)

okay bud im gonna have to ask for some backstory on that..............
we killed dozens of quillboar but after they saw how amazing sparkly light particle effects were they joined the alliance
Reminder that the entire reason void elves are a thing is "crap, we've gotta give something to the Alliance now."

No thought or effort will go into whatever the Alliance gets this time, either.

Being fair to Blizzard, Void Elves reek of "new lore", namely their attachment to the Void which was established in Legion to be the big bad so bad that it scared Sargeras into going genocidal as a way to deny them.

The problem ultimately is that in execution to unlock the Void Elves, Blizzard teased three infinitely more preferred races - Broken, High Elves, and Ethereals.

So they mashed all three together into the Void Elves. And it's worked, considering how popular they are in game. But I strongly suspect most are in the same boat I'm in, getting as close to being a playable High Elf as possible. It's not that I really mind being a broken ethereal elf character-wise, but throughout the journey was teased at longer standing and more distinct races.

It's a really good thing I skew towards the loner aspects of the game, simply because I'm still trying to work out how a Void Elf would behave in a social situation.

and yet the velves have been the most interesting, compelling new race to be added to the alliance in years

not to give blizzard any credit but id hope more than anything that any new allied races live up to magister umbric and the void elves :V
I can't recall anything particular standing out about Umbric to make him interesting or unique. People seem to like him, and I'm not entirely sure why.

I'm also incredibly jaded and detached from the story so it could just be I lack the receptor that clicks with the right perspectivr.
Umbric is charming and evil. It's a very safe combination when you're looking to make a character with wide audience appeal. Everybody loves a suave villain.

i wouldn't say evil
If you're sending enemy diplomats into the Void, you're kind of evil.

I mean, he's a void elf, wouldn't that just be like inviting them over for dinner?
There is no need for new races at all. Just make an existing race Yellow or Purple and then slap "light" or "void" in front of their names and, buddy, you've got an Allied Race.

Looking forward to playing with the Lightspear Trolls and the Void Goblins (or Voiblins).

Void Goblins (or Voiblins).

You know, we never did get a follow up to the Goblin Rocket that blasted into the Twisting Nether from Area 52...

Don't forget all those Goblins we helped Umbric send screaming into the abyss.

Baine is finally growing a spine, and just about everyone outside of Nathanos Bootlicker realizes that Sylvanas is going too far with raising a Proudmoore. Even the guy that BEGGED to be made Forsaken sees that maybe it was a bad idea.
Everyone you talk to on the Horde basically suffers from bystander syndrome. Nervously they shift from foot to foot. This is too far. THIS time it's too much. SOMEONE has to do something.

[Immediately shuffle back to mission table or standing staring at the sea]

Also, Vulpera Purge Squads have been retooled to "Scare off the hired caravan drivers that are actively moving equipment for the Horde, let's try not to antagonize them too much over to the Horde while they're still neutral."

The fact Sylvanas can apparently condition Forsaken the way she wants them is another black mark on the "But you have free will!" thing which I find so, so very cringey.

I'm starting a timer for how long it takes someone to swoop in and change their narrative from "Haw, Alliance are just as bad as us now." to "Haw, Alliance don't have the balls to have purge squads" because nothing matters in life except the red v blue rhetoric.
I would have been fine if they still had the Alliance be antagonistic to the Vulpera, sure "purge squads"were a little much, but I was thinking more martial law, gathering the Vulpera into a single area and "guarding them" while also being intimidating and imposing, getting too invasive and strict.

Thats what I imagined the dark side of the alliance to be, anyway.

It's killing me that every time I try and consider any new plot we get from the ptr, it's filtered by the reality that nothing is actually happening. Eventually, we are promised, something will happen. But for now, we have npc's that are supposed to be driving the story bus only just now reaching a stop most players arrived at before the expansion released.

It's not bad enough I have no effective impact or relevance to the story as a player character but not even the characters that do have relevance to the story impact it either.
At least it’s nice they’re actually thinking about it a bit. Cause they weren’t before. It’s progress!
