Hmmm it’s almost as if its 2am for most of us(or close to that time) and people are sleeping for work or school who play FF14…and its morning for Japan time. Your not going to get 100k+ views in this time slot where its either too late or too early for most. It has 21k now btw. It’s going up.

I enjoy FF14 for what it is and how i play it… but i hate the community so much, it sours the experience.

. . . ya know, I actually DID try FF14, and I gotta say, it was . . . ok.
Yea it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, and while I managed to get my elf elezan person to a decent level I wound up just giving up because the story wasn’t really gripping me (maybe its because I never really played a final fantasy game . . . then again MHW and GoW4 pulled me in and I never played a previous entry in either of those series before)
case and point, glad your happy for this patch, but don’t be a jerk about it, that is all.

It may just be the datacenter i’m on (Crystal). But there is so much toxic positivity and passive aggression everywhere i turn. You so much as mention you enjoy WoW and you get a bunch of snide and outright rude comments.
Also people love to swear up and down that there’s so much content for you to do every day when that content boils down to doing the same thing every single day until you max you gear out.
A lot of people i see just AFK in limsa all day doing some of the most cringeworthy RP i’ve ever seen in a very public space, and they call that content. To the point where i just avoid populated areas anymore because they drain my life force.
Also most of everybody i see have a fake japanese name, or just ripped one off from their favorite anime. It shouldn’t bother me but it does. Do you know how many Kirito’s, Natsu’s, Sasuke’s, and Sakura’s i have seen with my own two eyes? TOO MANY
Edit: Honorable mention to their mentor system. They tied rewards to it to entice people to join, so of course it attracted people who only want the stuff and the burger king crown, and the newcomer channel became the worst experience for new players ever.
Wow did it right by not incentivizing it whatsoever. So the only people who join the program are people who want to be helpful.
It used to be a lot better before the game really took off, but now everybody’s got it in their heads that “It’s the FF14 community, it’s great by default, and now i am too because i’m playing it”

Crystal data center is the highly popular RP-focused one, Balmung being the most populated RP server from what I’ve heard. My data center does not have much RP if any at all. But limsa is always a very populated place, its become the “place to hang out”. Yeah you’ll get those “fake japanese names” but again…it comes from being on the RP data center. I barely see any of these names you say because my realm/DC is more known for raiding and playing the game then that.
On the note of Sakura however - the original meaning of Sakura is “sakura trees” or those pink trees in Japan. Yeah Naruto and other animes have “Sakura” but people using Sakura generally are based on the pink tree or meaning of flower-related names like Amber flower for example.
yeah it sucks that one of the best mounts is tied to mentor system, but the PVP horses are IMO way better then it is anyhow.

I’ll log in for raids and that’s it.
Even then I’m looking for the right time to tell my static I’m not interested anymore. The combat in that game is so bad compared to other MMOs.

It’s more the fact like…the game has lore and naming conventions for each race, and they’re interesting, genuinely. People seldom seem to want to RP in the actual game’s setting and they just ignore all of it. It’s weird and i don’t think i’ve seen any other community do that.
I really do enjoy the game. I main White Mage, i love it (especially when there’s new content and people actually take damage). I also love my FC, and i’ve been with them since ARR, they’re really nice people.
But the larger community gets a little more insufferable every day. And it’s hard for me to want to play for very long at a time. (especially when you’ve already done everything a few times) Thankfully the game is more or less meant to be played very seasonally.
Oh how i wish my server ended up staying with the Aether DC during the split, though. I’d probably be much happier.

You probably already know this but, there’s bonus dialogue if your a certain job each expansion…in this case, there’s bonus dialogue for you being a reaper in EW, as recent as Ysh’tola commenting on your control of a voidsent when talking about:

There might be more reaper-only lines in new patch too.
I just happened to be playing my reaper for that quest so i did catch that.
I remembered being excited in Stormblood because i leveled AST first and they let me help heal in a cutscene.

Also in endwalker, A-Ruhn Senna mentioned how he was glad to have another white mage on the field despite the fact that i was most certainly a summoner while doing that quest.
