If gear progression is what other players want then they should progress to get gear no? Again as I stated above I am perfectly fine with Warforging. I am not fine with gear from lower difficulties completely invalidating gear from higher difficulties just because you “get lucky”. Weapons already cap at WF. No TFing, because Blizzard knew ahead of time that getting a 60 IL TF weapon completely breaks a character compared to the rest of their gear. Don’t worry though. Getting 100 more secondaries on a ring that forges that high is okay though. Or like 100 main stat and 60 secondaries from pants.
I understand P.U.G.s, I was struggling with what point you were making.
I get it now. I believe you are agreeing with why it helps keep content relevant longer than it would with static drops.
Yeah?
It’s fine as-is.
The chance of getting a very high Titanforge is really low.
However, just the fact that there is still a chance of getting one keeps otherwise obsolete content relevant for everyone. Even top mythic raiders can run obsolete content knowing that there is a very small chance they might get an upgrade.
I agree with content being relevant longer due to TF/WF.
I dont mind helping people with a +5, with TF/WF it means I could get lucky and get an upgrade.
Its why I stopped playing, not a hardcore by any means but I have a strong gambling vibe from trying to farm Titanforges. I didn’t feel good getting that 415 ring, destroying it wouldn’t make it any better. I would’ve preferred if we went back to pre-Legion gearing where +6 is all the luck you’d get.
I’d take mops forging system
Depends on how you look at it. Yes, it gets some population of people participating in content that wouldn’t normally do which is good for the GENERAL population. It is not good for the player involved since it means if they really want to gear up as much as possible. That is A LOT of raid clears and the PUG scene is…not known to be successful and quick to clear.
Also, my main point from my initial response is that this only has an affect on GROUP content. It wouldn’t change anything if 95% of the population straight up stopped doing WQs one day at the same time. It is solo content. You do not need anyone else around to participate. If anything it is BETTER if less people are around since you get all the tags/nodes.
The %participation on solo content is a meaningless statistic. Meanwhile the %participation on group content means something because that is the pool of players you ACTUALLY have to group with.
I will say that I don’t mind +5/+10. It is really only slightly annoying as it makes trading within our group infuriating. So many people want to trade things but can’t for this and other crazy reasons (OH/2H rules, coined item after looted it, etc.)…
This has nothing to do with mythic raiders, the fact that there’s so much envy around that clouds the discussion on titanforging just doesn’t help at all.
MMORPGS stand for character progression, at the top of which is either mythic raiding or high end pvp, the fact that you can get gear similar to characters that are on that level of progression by just randomly killing a few pigs invalidates one of the core elements of the game genre.
The ilvl for gear rewards in this patch is 385 for me. Some rewards are pre-set at 400. 420 is just a normal titanforged 400 gear. It happened once on one of my alts for doing Darkshore (400 reward) and she’s still like 370 overall. Once.
It’s not excessive nor common - still a rare occurrence. Getting a single 420 gear doesn’t make my scrub alt eligible for mythic raiding, by a long shot.
That’s because an 80 ilvl titanforge from LFR would be 450, which is above the forging cap.
The rest of your arguments are largely straw men too. People aren’t talking about getting fully mythic geared from LFR; even half mythic geared from heroic - or from +10 unless you believe +10 is as difficult as mythic raiding - is an issue.
Ive personally have a 85 level TF in Legion. Second week of EN and used that baby till the end of NH.
What’s funny is the argument against TF/WF is that it ruins regular progression, which I get. I was here for Wrath and the way we had to learn and grow through the steps was somewhat linear.
However, I think the bigger issue with RNG is the fact that I can run an entire LFR and not get a single drop… and that is it for the week. Better luck next time.
(I don’t mean a useful drop, I mean… no drops at all)
Hopefully you like the stats, because its gonna be hard to get rid of the main stat bonus from that. My pally got some heroic level bracers from LFR pre 8.1, and its been very difficult to replace them when I don’t do real raiding. No haste, so it hurts my rotation, but every piece of gear I’ve gotten that could replace it doesn’t end up being as good because of the amount of str they have.
Yes. And that’s an okay way to keep casuals subscribed doing LFR. Capping forging at +15 or something similar would probably be adequate for that.
All these comments about LFR… Is it even useful for gear even if you get base drops anymore with 400 gear from WF, all the emissaries, etc.? Normal raiding doesn’t even seem to compete with near instant, low effort content.
If you can’t answer the question why respond?
I guess it’s RNG, i got 3 max level TF (425) since 8.1, all from the weekly chest. Wish they were rings or trinkets but hey…
i dont think TF from the weekly chest is that rare, same for mosty of the WQ’s with 355/360 rings & ammys rewards, i got 3 TF and 2 WF out of 10 quests maybe…
easy peasy in one month most people will be at 400/410 ilvl anyway
I don’t want to raid to get decent ilvl gear to PvP, so M+ and forging gives decent alternatives for ilvl. In an ideal world, we’d have vendors for PvP gear that is better in PvP than PvE gear but we don’t. So we have to deal with the mediocre TF/WF system until they revert back to systems that have worked for years.
I’d rather not go back to the days where raiders completely stomped everyone in their PvE gear, thanks.
I totally agree with your last paragraph. The thing is, M+ is still PVE. I don’t think it’s any better to force PVP people to do PVE M+ than it is to force PVP people to do PVE raiding.
In principle, rated arenas are supposed to provide PVP people with a path to top level gear. However, I’d agree that rated is too different from normal battlegrounds and from world PVP to be a good replacement either. The Conquest system was better for 8.0, but it’s being eclipsed by welfare gear in 8.1. Solo queue rated might work. But this is really a different argument; titanforging should not be counted on as a path to top level gear.
One of my many, many alts got the first +60 I’ve seen in two expansions the day before yesterday (410 trinket from an advertized 350 WQ). Pretty cool. Don’t worry though, I won’t be trying to get into any high end competitive content with it. It just makes me a little more comfortable while doing more WQs.
