the .0 is it’s own patch. 0, 1, 2 , 3… if you had a .4 you would divide by 5… or do you think xpacs start on the .1 patch?

It’s the launch of the xpac yes, but it’s called counting. 0-1 is 1, 1-2, is 2, 2-3 is 3, 3-0 is 4.

Yes, the xpac launched on 9.0, but 9.0 is it’s own patch when considering the patch cycle.
This is because computers start counting from 0. If you tell a computer to count to 10, with no other information, it’ll go, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Tell it to count to 4 and you get the same thing. 0, 1, 2, 3
Ergo 4 patches per xpac.
If you want to stop counting the .0 patch, there would only be 3, which would make 8 months a reasonable time frame for patches because 24 divide by 3 is 8.

How so? Because blizzard tries to release a patch every 4 months and then makes the last patch of an xpac last a 8 months to a year, 6 months for a single patch in a 4 patch cycle that lasts 2 years is unreasonable?
That’s not a failure of math. That’s a failure of blizzard to set reasonable expectations and then people getting mad when something happens to cause blizzard to not be able to meet the expectation they set.

Except there isn’t… 4 months times 4 = 16 months. That’s 8 months shy of 2 years. No one would be complaining right now if we were on the .3 patch still another 7+ months out from the next xpac launch. The only reason anyone is pitching a fit right now, is because it. 9.0 and they can’t handle 9.1 not being out 4 months after the xpac launched.

There is no indication so far that 9.1 will come out anytime prior to August. And its the first week of May now, so I don’t really think many people would see that as “soon”.
