5/8 SE is tuned perfect for 20

There is a very real difference in what prog means. For me personally prog means getting in there learning the mechanics and every wipe or two getting the “Aha!” moment and adapting to said mechanic. It doesn’t take 3 hours to do this. It takes 4-5 wipes. Scarlet does not feel this way on a 20-man. You learn all the mechanics, then despite that get told that you aren’t good enough as a raid team and you need more people. That doesn’t feel good, it’s disrespectful to every casual 20-man raiding team ever. This isn’t efficiency, this is a numbers game. And if the raid isn’t tuned for 20 casual Naxx geared players. The words are written on the wall “It is overtuned”.

Barrier. And/or healing cds.

lying SoB we know your trying to grief the community

It’s easy to acknowledge that the raid itself has a fun design. These people are just being polite and optimistic. The design is pretty good. The tuning is not however.

We’re not a sweaty guild by any means and did HM4 with 20. We did it with only a few weeks or month remaining in the phase with Gothik being our main challenge.

Well, our Friday team still couldn’t beat Beatrix with 20 so that team will most likely go up to 25 next week.

But the point being, is that we tried at least once.

It’s not about sweaty or casual. Play how you want. But at least give it a go. We’re legit 1 lockout in. Only 1.

LoL. /10 chars

We were able to clear it close to the end when people got enough gear. We had some orange parsers and some green parsers. We just had to the patience to wait is all.

You can understand the mechanics, but if you don’t get efficient at it, you’re not going anywhere.

x WRONG x WRONG x WRONG x

Our guild is running 25 - working on 4th boss. We only raid 3 hours thurs/sun though. Personally, I’m very happy with the prog.

I do not mind the challenge of content. My favorite game is dark souls, and I don’t even find that game hard. I think lost ark raiding is harder.

But it doesnt matter if I like it, most won’t feel like it is worth their time. Maybe people look at the upgrades out of SC and think - is it worth the thousands of gold of consumes, the hours of wiping, for it? I can just watch a video if I want to see the content.

And they decide its not a good use of their time. Then guilds can’t fill raids, guild falls a part, some move on, but many won’t want to join a new guild and go through meeting all new people, culture, and adjustments…

Anyway, I worry more about the slippery slope. Mostly because Im on horde, and population feels more empty each day.

I’m in a similar boat. Love the difficulty of souls games. Don’t care much for it in WoW for a very simple reason. I don’t have fun dying to things that aren’t my fault. Call it egotistical if you want, but dying on a boss because it hits enrage timer when I’m tanking and doing over 2k dps as a tank isn’t fun and isn’t my fault. Dying to aoe raid damage because healers can’t keep up when I’m a tank isn’t fun or my fault. There isn’t something for me to improve on. If I die in a souls game I know where to improve and try again (I do these games blind and don’t use summons for the personal challenge). I’m not interested in waiting for other people to learn their dps rotation, how their healing cds work, or “fire=bad”.

Preparing myself for the inevitable “Then MMOs aren’t for you bro” comments now, as if that means anything to me after having enjoyed playing this mmo for 16 years.

Also no, I’m not saying I’m perfect and never mess up. When I wipe the raid due to a mistake I feel bad for wasting the rest of my raids time, same as I am annoyed at having my time wasted when people either don’t or take too long to learn how to improve on their end.

And just to put some perspective on this. The people I raid with in SoD had to have a legitimate discussion explaining to some of our raiders that cleave and aoe are the same thing, because people legitimately thought those were different things when we asked them to “stop aoe’ing the mc’d people”. Recently we also had the revelation that as a tank the healers didn’t understand what I mean when I’d ask “external on me please” in discord, because they didn’t know what an external was. I’m not interested in trying to teach people things (it gives me a headache), nor am I going to kick these people or look for a different guild at this late phase of SoD. Just make these raids easier so we can go back to clearing raids and having fun instead of pulling our hair out every time someone says something that makes me question reality. Thank you.

Which 3rd boss did you down. We wiped on dragon all night lol

Think the best we did was last phase 40 percentish. It was hard lol

I love this lmao.

“I haven’t done the full raid, haven’t even touched the final 3 bosses all of which are problematic and complained about, but I feel like I am qualified to give an opinion on the feel of the raid overall as a whole. Again though, I have not done the whole raid”

We got dragon, beastmaster, mason down tonight

we 1 shot dragon once we tried the kill 1 whelp, and ignore other 2 strat-picked up an extra healer and ran with 5. Also had tank pull dragon to wall, and park her parallel so that melee could stand next to wall…and run slightly backwards to drop flare. And if worse case one of them F up and didnt run out, we didnt have fire in the middle of the room.

That fight still needs a nerf for 20man. Too much welp health.

Gonna be honest, I’ve been playing this game a very long time, competitively even…

I am not 100% sure either what you mean by “external on me.” But perhaps, its a context issue LOL!

The raid is not hard. The problem is that in sod we got used to casual play, now I find myself in more casual once a week raids that clearly have players that will struggle in this type of content.

:point_up_2:

My current guild only raids one day a week now. We’d be further along if we raided more but one day a week was enough to clear all of the prior content comfortably. Now we can’t add a day because many raiders already raid with other guilds on other nights.

Acting like thats just because of SoD isn’t really correct though. Its vanilla in general. Classic vanilla saw people clearing MC at 55 in greens. As it stands right now more people have cleared the current mythic retail raid than SE with its supposed tuning of 20 players. Thats nowhere near the difficulty of Vanilla, SoD, TBC, WotLK, or Cata, its far FAR harder.

we had a similar take going in this week. The welps were fine but the aoe damage omg. our casual group tried it without a priest this week and it was brutal. Me flexing to heals might be the play.

I got you, “external on me” is him asking for someone with a defensive cooldown that can be placed on someone else (namely him) be used on him. So like, pain suppression or sod’s improved barkskin. This can even be extended to things like warrior rallying cry or priest barrier, though it usually isn’t.

Basically, he just wants a defensive for incoming damage and either doesn’t have his own available or wants to save it for a bigger damage phase.
