500k for a hunter pet?

I just noticed that I could train a Blazefeather Peacock hunter pet in the Undermine, having completed the Perfect Wedding questline…

… but 500k to be able to summon him? Come on, Blizz, I know gold is much easier to get these days but… 500k for a 3rd Warband bank tab, 500k for a hunter pet??? Seriously?

If people will pay it. If they never monetized gold I wouldnt mind but ive been conditioned to see every item in its token value now.

I’m not opposed to the cost of this since it’s a cosmetic thing. However, I also think that gold costs should be higher for ‘required’ things as well. I think the economy has too much gold and nowhere near enough of it is being removed. Inflation is what leads to NPC prices like this.

I’m ok with this. Hunters can tame literally anything. Raid boss? Tamed. Rare? Tamed. Serpent? Tamed. Reanimated stick. Tamed. Empty coke bottle. Believe it or not… tamed.

It’s a gold sink for people who have the money. If you don’t like it, then don’t get it. You don’t need every hunter pet. Furthermore, every little thing you are unwilling or unable to do in the game is not Blizzard’s fault. Instead of stomping your feet and saying “Really Blizz?” you could be farming some gold for that peacock.

I think the answer is to go in the opposite direction and make gold purely cosmetic and remove crafting and external buffs.

I think more people see it as a chore then interesting gameplay.

There seems to be something about Blizzard profiting from the sale of gold, and the increasing prevalence of gold sinks… i just can’t seem to put my finger on it :thinking:

Im not a fan but it makes sense… eah expansion you need to introduce inflation so new players can make gold since its a requirement for harder difficulties.

That means how much gold is a luxery also increases.

Game needs more gold sinks since they stopped selling rep stuff for gold

So enjoy your 500k pet, or don’t buy it

This ruined heirlooms for me. It was neat when you earned them by playing the game with dungeon currency. up through MoP. Yes I know you can technically use the timewalking currency but they’ve been nerfed so badly nowadays why would I? Especially if we keep getting Winds of Fortune events that rain gear on you while leveling like the current one.

I’m sorry but people with your mentality really get on my nerves.

No, I don’t “need” every hunter pet and I don’t WANT or HAVE “every hunter pet.” I never said anything was Blizzard’s “fault.” I’m not “stomping my feet,” I simply made a post regarding making things a little more reasonable. I “have” the gold and I am not “unable” to purchase the summons. But I would also like to do other things. Yes, I have roughly 1 million gold but another warband bank tab and one hunter pet and it would nearly be gone. That’s ridiculous.

I understand YOU think this price is reasonable, I don’t. And apparently I am not the only one. But people on high horses who feel the need to tell others they don’t “NEED” something are just rude and annoying. I would apologize for this rant but your comment really struck a nerve.

This is what we call a gold sink thing. The game has these all over the place. Heck the Travelers Tundra Mammoth used to be the gold sink mount. Now they are just expanding the gold sinks to other aspects of the game. Heck to my recollection there was a battle pet you couldn’t get until you had a million gold on your character that talked to him because he was he would snub you otherwise.

I understand your frustration. 500k for that pet is obnoxious…create worthy gold sinks, make it have unique animations…where is the flame…make people feel damn I want it, this mentality of anyone can price anything whayever then you are shamed for questioning the value “don’t buy it” is why we have the acceptable standard buggy situation in nightfall, and war within…let them continue to be snarky about being doormats lol.
