The sad part is the fact that the developers probably think we don’t like yeti mounts lol

By reading the forums they’d come to the conclusion we don’t like any mounts.
mounts are the best thing in the game imo

I’d be surprise if Devs got the wrong conclusion, a lot of players explained the issue and provided feedback, Devs come back with almost the same result.

enjoy the 500 otter mount as there will be 8 other ones in the expansion. just another usess mount noone will use.

People are saying in Dragon Flight you’ll have many avenues to otter mounts. I believe someone said 9 not including the one for 500 mounts.
The funny thing is, if the above is true, it would be the rarer mount. There’s only 3 models out there and one is removed.
- White CM Yeti is gone
- Red Yeti is a rare drop for specific islands that’s not up every week
- Dark Gray is from the Christmas holiday

Seen that, but just because a mount model is in the game files, doesn’t mean it will ever be attainable by the player. A simple perusal of the Warcraft Mounts website shows that there are 434 mounts in the game files that are unobtainable, 40 of which were never actually implemented as usable mounts, leaving 394 different colour variations of existing mounts that have also never been used.
Are you sure? Because the article says:
“We’re taking our first look at mount models coming in Dragonflight!”
“in this post we’ll highlight some of the mounts you can collect”
p.s. It almost feels like mount collectors are getting punked/trolled if it wasn’t for the fact the people doing this are regulars.
So far, unless I missed one, every single person that has said something along the lines of “stop whining” and/or “the otter is fine” doesn’t even have the Frenzied Feltalon.
Right so was this mount in an article that said “it’s coming in Legion”? Because the article I linked said that list of mounts is stuff you can collect.

Back in Legion when that was being data-mined, wowhead showed off the models of the various infernal mounts like this one:
That mount was added as reward for getting 350 mounts and there were 4 other variations of that mount that was datamined, two of which dropped from Gul’dan in the Night Hold, which were the Felblaze Infernal and the Hellfire Infernal.
The other two, specifically these two:
Were added to the game files and are fully functioning mounts, they just can’t be obtained by the players at all.
The Brown Yeti that was originally the 500 mount reward is also a mount colour variation that has existed in the game files since Warlords of Draenor, it was just never used.

The issue isn’t so much that the Yeti mount was ugly or bad. I love the Yeti mount and Grumpus is hard to get.
The issue is that the reward for hard work spent in game pales in comparison to in store mounts.
The most unique, cool looking mounts have consistently been from 6 month subscription rewards and in mount purchases.
This dilutes the efforts of actually playing the game and cheapens the process.
500 Mounts is a huge accomplishment. It deserves something on par or greater than what is available in store.

Yes. I posted the link in my previous post, but here it is again:
In that Legion Alpha build, wowhead datamined a number of mounts from that build, these were items that at the time did not have a source, they were just items that existed in the game files, but they could be used to add a mount to the players mount collection. Those mounts were:
- Snowfeather Hunter
- Hellfire Infernal
- Viridian Sharptalon
- Felblaze Infernal
- Coldflame Infernal
- Brilliant Direbeak
- Flarecore Infernal
- Frostshard Infernal
- Predatory Bloodgazer
- Bloodfang Widow
- Llothian Prowler
And to be completely fair to Blizzard they implemented all but two of the datamined mounts from that build. The only two that have yet to appear in the game (but still appear in the game files) is the Coldflame Infernal and the Flarecore Infernal.
But seriously, there are hundreds of unavailable mounts that exist in the game files but just can’t be obtained in-game. They’re just lurking there, and I imagine even Blizzard at this point has forgotten about them. No doubt some of the mounts that are datamined from the Dragonflight Alpha will appear in game, but I would be surprised if all of the datamined mounts were attainable.
I don’t like the bone on the lower jaw but rest seems fine…

I think the mounts for each of the milestones should be unique. I dont have an issue with recolored stuff at all but given that its a reward like this I feel it should be unique.
Id settle for a Goose mount. If not, then a Praying Mantis mount.
If not then a jumping spider mount whose animation is a small pouncing jump forward. Maybe it even randomly harmlessly pounces on hunter pets in cities.
How about a Rhinocerous beetle…

How about a gangly legged Crane fly?

Pepsis wasp. I know we have wasps but maybe some that arent mechanical? As someone who likes insects…these do freak me out a little but only because of how painful the sting apparently is.
Maybe a tarantula like a Goliath Bird Eater…scaled appropriately.
Cockroach? Dubia maybe?
Bot fly? Those are disgusting though.
Mosquito? Also disgusting. Id fly on one tho.

But regardless, you’re always going to get split opinions on it, and they’re going to be loud opinions.
I want a big awesome unique dragon mount that we can use in Dragonisle’s and outside it. 500 mounts is no easy task to collect/achieve. I understand Blizzard is worried about new players that don’t have even 100 mounts. Ok in due time, after playing for years and farming for 500, they will get it. It’s supposed to be a hard to get achievement that takes a long time. This way mount collectors can show of and be proud if their achievement. So please reconsider the otter mount (that is not unique and a ground mount). Like I said, I would like a dragon that is wow shop quality design but in the game for this big achievement. Here is an idea from my big brain, ARMORED SPECTRAL DRAGON. If you can make that mount, people will love you! CHEERS

If the Otter was a store mount, It’ll have a bright color and some kind of magic wings / run in air animation allowing it to fly, it’s not only the fact that this is a recolor of other models in the alpha but that if you think about how a Otter could be implemented in the Store, you can picture something totally different that could be also added to in game like this achievement. So, we get less unique mounts in game and some cool mounts with animations are just for the store…
I think I have 330 mounts how do you even get close to 500.
Lots and lots of runs in dungeons…raids…earning reps for all factions and buying their mounts…you go like 20 or so mounts just in ZM to make with stuff you collect…I got my first mount achievement in LK, got the White Drake…other wise known as Clorox. Farm raising mounts in Garrison… farm raising mounts in BfA horde side which counts for mount can be used by Alliance side…Bumble Bee but that is Alliance only…I am at 566 right now and still haven’t finished all mounts in ZM yet. There are some players with over 900…now that is a feat.
I haven’t brought the frog mounts that cost 333K each either or that one other mount from Legion that cost 500K yet either…only buy them if I need a mount to tip my total …
