DK does not need a fourth spec. Its class concept is Melee, and Frost and Shadow magic usage, but with a death-related theme as opposed to the use of the Void for Shadow magic or Wizard-like Frost abilities. The specs we have now are enough to fill the role of all DK concepts, but the problem is that the mechanics have been over-toned down and made to be a joke, so now they don’t adequately reflect the themes that they are supposed to represent.
This is a notable problem for Unholy. The established theme for Unholy is to spread diseases, but the core mechanics now focus on damaging targets by giving them blisters and agitating them. The only disease-spreading being done is with one baseline ability that simply has to be clicked and refreshed every so often. The Festering Wounds concept has absolutely nothing to do with Unholy - not even the concepts that are described in the talent tab.
The specs we have now need serious work as it is. Even if they didn’t need fixing, they still cover all of the DK concepts to a degree. For both of these reasons, a fourth spec is completely unnecessary.
Sorry, but I don’t think we need a 4th spec. What we do need however very badly is for 2h Frost to return. If they wind up making it said 4th spec though, fine, but I really hope regardless that 2h Frost comes back in any shape or form. But not tmogs of course, I feel that doesn’t work sadly enough.
Probably because they raise hordes of undead to fight for them, and use shadow magic to do damage. Put a robe on them, and let auto attack, and festering strike hit from range, and you have a necromancer.
If you want to get technical, Unholy is a Necromancer. It just has a melee concept. If Unholy wore cloth gear and had Festering Strike and Scourge Strike replaced with two Shadow spells, it would be called Necromancer. Unholy is mostly ranged attacks and ghoul-summoning as it is.
Well I was describing UH DK, but yeah, the problem when DK was introduced was that Demo had a lot of similarities. Then DH came out, and even more similarities in other areas. The problem with a lot of classes seems to be that Warlocks are too similar, lol. Remove Warlocks, and start divvying out the scraps.
