4th hunter spec

I said this all the time in legion up until I took a break. The way hunters operate now is counter productive. Melee that are too squishy against other melees. Range that kite to get distance, only to have to sit and cast defeating the purpose of kiting in the first place. Lets not forget they tried to take away traps from being baseline. Survival needs to be less dependent on the pet or mastery’s effectiveness just needs to be restored to BM in pvp settings.

I want the old survival spec to make a return whether that be under the same name or different title. However I cannot sit and pretend that Survival has been the only victim throughout recent expansions. Bm MM and Survival aren’t nearly as fun as the previous renditions of them.

The disappointment of Survival’s performance compared to its fellow melee classes is frustrating considering the skill cap required to play them proficiently.

Yes a 4th spec is a must if the dev teams goal is to please the hunter fan base, as much as would love this to come to pass I do not believe this will happen. The best they could reasonably do to please both RSV and MSV fans is to shorten the cooldown of aspect of hawk to give hunters more of a taste of both sides of the spectrum and allow other abilities such as interrupts to become range during aspect of hawk. We can all just hope SLs is not a Sheeet Show and a repeat of BFA.

For RSV…

Yeah, I would go for: Munitions

There might be other alternatives that are more…intriguing, depending on who you ask. But this falls well in line with the general theme of the spec and the respective abilities/effects it contains, both in terms of using enhanced ammunition/arrows, as well as empowering traps.

And, like the other current hunter spec names, this one would fit the “naming-theme” as well. If that makes sense.
And yes, current SV is a bit of an outlier here. But anyway…

I would agree. Although “fun” is ofc a subjective term.

My argument here is basically, we still have a BM spec, a MM spec and a MSV spec(despite it’s differing design from that of the Legion iteration).

We no longer have a RSV-spec.

It’s a long shot, to say the least. For sure.

But if we don’t show them that we want this, as well as more specific stuff towards what we want it to be like.

It certainly won’t happen. Ever.

Depends on who you ask I guess.

But for me, this would not even come close to a solution to the problem.

Technically, this would make current SV into a type of RSV.
But it would not be RSV - the spec designed to focus on ammunition/arrows and traps. Themed around DoTs etc.

So…I can’t imagine anyone who’s actually after the old RSV playstyle, to be satisfied with a solution like the above.

Agreed.

Fair enough, I agree this solution would not satisfy RSV fans hoping for historically(imo) the best spec hunters have had(RSV), but offer a compromise in play style with the current spec. Who knows, druid have four specs, so I feel its in the realm of possibilities. My faith in the dev team who created BFA is at an all time low. You can only ignore your fan base so much before you have a Rise of Skywalker situation. Blizz dont pull a disney with SLs, you werent afraid then, you should be afraid now. Another rehash of BFA will kill this game. Give the ppl what they want.

uh…or…just leave SV alone and make the fourth spec be what youre asking for.

It’s just a matter of changing the minds of the devs. Which is ofc easier said than done.

But yeah, keeping my hopes up that this past mistake is corrected so we again can have access to a modern version of it.

We’ll see.

If anything, the theme of Shadowlands is unpruning. So what better to do than to “unprune” the entire spec/playstyle which was taken away? Considering we currently have no similar alternative to it.

Agreed.
/hint @devs.
