Bro let’s say at even 4 mil per pattern and with work orders of 50k it works out to 80 crafts to makes their money back. Most of the time they’re taking a loss

Remember when this was a game with server communities and people would be crafting for free and accepting tips from those who could offer them?

Now we’re talking about random dropped patterns for BIS items going for 25 months of subs, or about $500 in current token prices.

/sigh
I mourn for this world.

Recipes aren’t that outrageous. Some maybe, but I found a recipe for some sort of Mythic Plate Chest and listed it for 250k
I don’t even grind like that because I’m a Holy Priest …
I have found that if you want it and know where to get it, that you are able to just go get it … Even if it’s a rare drop, you can literally collect quests for that area and make a ton of gold while looking for something like that.

jewelcrafting ring recipe only drops from a weekly chest with 0.0% chance to drop, you can’t even grind it

Do what now? If something drops at 0.0% chance then it doesn’t exist. That is literally the math on how roll tables work …

If by your logic these recipes exist at 0.0% chance of dropping then I could also say that God Armor iLevel 6,000,000 drops from every container in every patch since the game launched at 0.0% chance of dropping.

If something is less than .0 then you need to specify this when making statements, you can’t just round the number because it sounds dramatic…

0.9% on a weekly event might aswell be zero

That’s how it is now. :dracthyr_love_animated: I put 1 silver comissions in and they get crafted instantly.

So we are moving WoW in the direction of Diablo immortal, this will be fun.

Don’t fall into that trap, in the end it’s all pixels. Life is short, don’t waste too much of it in wow grinding pixels

If you were honest with yourself, the only reason you want these recipes, is because they’re valuable. Look at the other recipes that are drops, but are higher rates. Nearly worthless, and you can’t make any good money on them.

That’s how crafting works, at least any good crafting system. It’s heavily gated, to keep the consumers from becoming producers. Whether that’s from being an extremely hard grind (pre nerf Omni crafting in ff14), from BOP mats that the crafter has to grind/do actual content for(craftable Legos in legion), or from difficult reputation grinds gating recipes(shadowlands season 1 maw rep).

get on my server, got 1 on AH right now for 1.7 mil…
rare drops are rare drops…it is what it is, and rarity=valuable

It’s not a conspiracy to upset you, believe it or not.

Mat.prices are higher than end good price, because everyone is trying to level crafting stuff, at any cost. Which creates a lot of supply, but no demand.

It might be bots on the crafting board, but it’s just as likely that it’s people spamming search. I had to spam search for literal hours to make sure I hit 100 leatherworking by crafting spark recipes. I’ll eventually have to do the same on my crafting alts.

Crafting system is designed in a way that if you’re not already “keeping up” you’re wasting gold by trying to do so. Accept your place as a consumer, and do world quests for more than enough to cover your consumables. The cost to get things made by others has cratered so hard that you don’t save a thing by trying to make crafting alts.

they will never make 4M back - let them waste their gold

If by “tokens” you mean “WoW tokens”, then there isn’t a way to ensure they ever end up where you think this ratio should be, as both the token and the recipe are entirely driven by supply and demand, and there is no guarantee that these two non-related items hold a financial correlation.

That said, it is because these recipes aren’t freely found and trivial that enables crafters to benefit fr crafting.

You mention world drops should be the fun and not gear, but gear has historically been the only fun world drops. Not to mention these recipes mirror world drops in many ways, already.

To me, your post reads off as “I am not lucky and I did not prepare for the crafting pivot, so I want to blame factors and mask it by offering changes that the thing I’m complaining about largely already does.”

Much like crafts in the real world, if someone executes a given craft to a high degree of polish and technical skill, they’ll be able to charge more. Only instead of a 4mil gold recipe, the factor becomes one of dedication.

But the crafting system is designed such that, unless you CHOSE to specialize towards a piece that you weren’t going to dedicate to crafting, you can still pivot away to other things for money.

While something like the Elemental Lariat may sell for a lot via the work order system, we’re still at the point of expac where people are leveling crafts, but as that tapers off, selling leveling gear becomes more lucrative than it is presently.

My point is, there are plenty of ways to make gold, and if you couldn’t chase down the premium lane because PLAYERS decided it should be/remain a premium lane, just pivot.

You’re effectively doing the MMO equivalent of someone IRL begging someone to lower their prices for something they really desire and cannot afford, and then getting upset when they say no. At the end of the day, you have all of the same options they did, they chose to manage their resources for this sort of thing whereas you did not

This, exactly. And it isn’t like you can’t still make money, you just have to be aware of the various ways to do so.

Which is why if you can’t definitively race crafted goods, you pickup alch or ench, which always have value all expac

FF14 is a GREAT example of this, and why it is important

When Endwalker hit and they removed farmed high quality materials, EVERYONE could craft. And the initial wave of crafting gear sold well, but then EVERYONE was making the end game gear, and it created instantaneously! And so EVERYONE got punished except for those who saw the writing on the wall and just continued to make the crafting gear instead!

And then, the equilibrium point sat in, and the new crafting was largely just not worth it.

You still had to be in and cutting edge to really profit, but the things OP suggest regarding drop rates are exactly what should be AVOIDED for a HEALTHY crafting system with work orders

Endwalker crafting was an enormous disappointment for me. Shadowbringer was the beginning of the end for crafting though. They made it way too easy for level crafting, and removed the advantages that Omni crafting had.

Entire crafting/gathering ecosystem imploded by the 3rd of 4th week of endwalker. All to chase lowest common denominator type players. I still love FF14’s story, but they made a huge mistake with dumbing down crafting.

The Gold cap is already 10m per character.
An enchants were selling for 100k
10 ppl buy enchants ur already at 1m. It isnt hard to imagine capping quickly.
Think how many people buy gems an enchants at prices that people(not everyone) buy stuff with.
Coupled with the fact some of us have been around since Classic to Legion it isnt hard to reach that amount.

You didnt need tokens never did.

You dont need tokens its a blame game for not picking the right profession to make money.
Prices before every new raid an every m+ piece of gear or at the start of the xpac.
100k enchants an gems/ore farm= big cash.
