4AM In Stormwind, Totally Legit

The just go round and round

Love it :joy:

It’s more about how companies in the modern day work. They’re not going to pay someone to do manual work when they could use AI/automation instead.

Which goes back to my original point a few posts up: You should be asking Blizzard why they’re not interested in banning bots.

Cui bono?
Cui prodest?

We’ll never get that answer

Aren’t there irl legal ramifications to bans? Every player has an irl legal right to take blizzard to court over violation of contract, aka denial of game service prior to sub expiration, as described in the ToS (not that i would think this is a particularly common approach). If I’m not mistaken blizzard has to obtain proof positive of bad actor behavior before executing bans or open themselves up to lawsuits. I’d imagine that factors heavily into the “instant bans based on visual observation”, much like eye witness testimony needs evidenciary support.

I was told botting has been significantly reduced because of the gdkp ban.

Was this a lie?

I would imagine 1 GM could spend a day hopping through SoD servers and layers and ban a significant amount of bots. OP has posted multiple videos of this same exact spot. It’s a little odd that it hasn’t been taken care of immediately.

I doubt they’d be ‘scrolling through the world’, they’d likely be reacting to various reports.

I feel like blizzard has a real mess.

I wish they would tell us their corporate secrets

How many bot accounts do they estimate exist?

What percentage of customers commit RMT?

I could draw a lot of parallels but it would be pulled out of my A.

Something tells me the bean counters think players want RMT to some degree and so we are forced to live with it.

They could eliminate RMT but the result would be complete self cannibalization.

Hopefully this isn’t the case however and I am just being a pessimist

Maybe what we think of as bots is just like a rush of customers at a convenience store that isn’t explainable. A combination of mass hysteria and “people see people do”

I doubt it. Wish we knew the full extent of the problem or lack thereof.

Go to Tanaris and see the blatant bots who stop at the same point and make a sharp angle every single time.

Ah, yeah understood. Bit of copium on my end I suppose. You’re 100% right.

I would assume money.

“Got a bot in my group, bout to get boosted” LMAO that’s one way to handle the issue.

This is really fu**ing disgusting

Blizzard and other gaming companies have talked about why they do ban waves instead of individual bans for a lot of things. Usually it’s about not wanting the bot makers to make adjustments as fast once they’ve come up with a detection. They flag many accounts using that same bot for awhile and then ban them in a big wave.

It seems like that wouldn’t really adequately explain this kind of thing though where you have seemingly not particularly sophisticated bots running the same paths in large numbers. It doesn’t seem like they’re even attempting to hide what they’re doing so it doesn’t seem like there’s value in waiting to remove them.

They don’t need to react to reports. They can see it with their own eyes. We all can…

The GM client does not work or look the same as the player client, not anymore.

And we’re talking the hypothetical “3-480+ GMs live on the realms”. If such a team exists, they would not just be sitting around the world doing nothing for 8 hours - that’s a waste of time and money. They would move about based about reports received.

Don’t worry we do one ban wave every 30-60 days using high-tech AI

but if you trade an alt 100g we will ban you instantly

good. . gdkps and RMT are not allowed. stop trying to cheat.
