I had a 49 rogue twink back in tbc and decided to make one in classic. I haven’t really played it much because I’m still ranking on the 60 but hopefully soon.
49 is great because you can actually hold your own against 60’s. It’s fun and challenging in world pvp trying your luck with fresh 60’s.
My twink so far has got nifty stopwatch, linkens boomerang, skull of impending doom, rune of the guard captain, engineering for grenades and parachute cloak and has all BIS gear except for the BRD cloak and ST bracers.
Of course I do love being in mid in wsg destroying non twinks, but the real fun for me is playing with my friends that also have twinks and going out in the world killing 50-60’s.
It’s definitely a great twink bracket and a lot of fun.
Seems to be you have a few misconceptions.
At 49 you have the same tool kit as 60 does excluding the few extra talents. You should check out the links above to the reddit threads that further discuss this.
You contradicted your points here a bit so going to try and address each. Having stronger gear that you have earned is in essence exactly what every bracket does. You have to do the runs to earn the gear no matter what level you are. You get your gear one time and then enjoy pvp. Except at 60 you would have to do this every new raid release.
At 49, a twink in BiS is going to be much closer in stats to a toon in full greens than compared to a fresh 60 to a raid BiS 60. So not sure what your point is about going around and clapping under geared people is mildly amusing. You are under the impression that gear disparity doesn’t exist at 60. A person in full BWL gear isn’t going to clap a fresh 60? I don’t understand how there is a difference.
Not to mention; I don’t think any one of us ever wants to clap under leveled or under geared players. We are looking for competitive games. Kind of the wole point of bringing attention to the bracket and pushing its growth. Hence this thread.
Would you want to be in a group of fresh lvl 60s undergeared or on the opposite end landslide win of having an all Raid geared team? Neither is fun.
I have 4 lvl 60s, and did pvp long enough to get my epic mounts. It was fun, but basically just spamming AV over and over for the honor. It was about pushing up honor and not just playing for fun. I don’t enjoy the grind, nor do I have the time investment needed.
Lastly, I highly doubt any twinks in the 49s are trash players, and most I know of came from retail whom competitively played RBGs and arenas, including myself. Not that PvP at 60 seemed in any way competitive. Can’t tell you how many times I faked my casts for nothing at 60. People hardly ever interrupt or counter. I can guarantee you will come across far more competitive games at 49.
You seem to have missed the points all together. Imagine a world where everyone got geared one time, and were competitive whether be full greens or blues from dungeons. That is what the 49s has over 60. You gear once, and then get to enjoy the toon.
I cannot believe I never realized the play on their names.
I concur, 49 bracket was a blast back in the day… played a ton of it during TBC on the ol tank/resto druid. It was great because there was always a good mix of classes and they were all strong. Not like the lower brackets where its all hunters and rogues destroying everything.
are you alliance or horde for that 49er guild? im on bene and would join
Speaking of which… how are the queues at 49?
This bracket is grossly overpopulated with horde twinks. Expect on average to see 4-5+ horde twinks per match with maybe 1-2 alliance.
And 90% are orcs
I am not in that guild I am PVPing at the 50s bracket. It has been pretty good so far for alliance which is nice to be honest as every time I attempt to go into AV its absolutely horrible. Not trying to get into another AV discussion, but WSG seems fair. So far we win I would say 7/10. Probably the horde are just soaking up the honor in AV.
THAT guild is Alliance though.
I had fun pugging the 39 bracket on my hunter. Aspect of the cheetah is a nice boost before everyone has mounts. Now I’m 49 with some decent gear (but not min maxed twink) and might try out some wsg before I push to 60. I want a lvl 60 hunter, but I kind of regret dinging to 40. May have to level another hunter for the 39 or 49 bracket later
I agree, my priest has been lvl 48 forever now . I just can’t give up the bg’s!!! So fun and rewarding too. I might just stay there forever honestly and I’m happy I held off on lvling her up because now that AB is coming. It’s gonna be a blast! Can’t wait for it!! I am gonna get to lvl 49 though of course. haha.
Youre selling me OP.
But 39 is also very very good
I played a ton in the 49 bracket back in the day. It was always my favorite. I’ll be working on my twink real soon!!!
i was gonna do a hunter 29 twink. heard its gucci
Going to go ahead and throw in a good word for this bracket. I was on my way to 60 on my priest, but with no real desire to grind rank, raid and gear-up, or any of that as I’d done it all before 15yrs ago. After a few games in the 40s, I decided to just go ahead and park here for good.
I’ve had loads of fun in the bracket on a toon that is by no means a true TRUE twink, but geared enough to hold its own. Players have access to dang near the full toolkit, mounts(!), just about every spec seems viable, and the disparity in performance between a fully geared out twink and a respectably geared player doesn’t at all seem insurmountable.
Overall the bracket does seem to be pretty balanced, though I haven’t been around long enough to know this to be fact. Outside of the wee hours of the night/morning, queue times seem reasonable. Around 9-10AM EST games start popping in less than ten minutes, getting progressively quicker pops as the day goes on and into the prime hours. I’ll frequently see pops in 1-5min from noon on.
I’ve not had the same experience as Bunsz who stated the bracket was “grossly overpopulated with horde twinks.” In the AM and early afternoon, it’s been my experience that horde does really well. But sometime in the mid-afternoon ally really does start coming correct, and the games become exceedingly balanced and difficult to win. Just the other day I finally threw in the towel after 5 losses in a row, with some straight beasts on ally just wrecking us. Primetime seems to be a toss-up with how the games can go, but they’re almost always well contested.
I recommend at least popping in and checking it out as you level. I found I enjoyed it enough to stay!
Just my 2c~
No I am not. Earthfury.
Anyone know what day time q’s are like?
If you’re talking mid day it seems to be anywhere from 4-7min with q’s 1-2 min during prime time. Late night also stays active with qs typically around 7-10 min but they do drop off around midnight to the 20+ range. These are all PDT times since that’s where I’m located.
Best bracket I absolutely love it. Pretty much just raid log my main and pvp on my twink
This is pretty similar to my experience. I don’t consider this toon a twink since it’s my Classic main and highest-level character, but I was easily able to get the BoE’s and most of the dungeon gear/enchants and maintain consumables on my own through normal means at-level.
I suspect there’s slightly more Horde twinks overall, but there’s some great Alliance players too, and if you’re willing to play a longer game, no team is ever really out of it until the last flag caps. There are plenty of players on both factions that can change the game if they sub-in or show up late.
There are some lop-sided games, and late nights will see some 10v7, 10v6 etc, but many of the players I’ve seen aren’t afraid to deal with that, and I’ve seen several of those shorthanded games get turned into awesome victories. I feel like this bracket has a higher percentage of good games than anywhere else I’ve played.
My 49 priest is my main, too! Pretty much in the same boat as you as far as snatching up some decent BoE’s and a bit of dungeon gear, plus engineering for a little extra fun.
I’d say your assessment of the bracket is pretty spot on. Had some really epic 2+ hour games with tons of cap attempts couple with tons of recaps. Like, they weren’t just mindless midfield slaughter fests. But of course, you’re right about some lopsided rollfests, too. On both sides I’ve seen.
We’ve put a good hurtin’ on each other in BGs too, you and I. I’ll wave @ ya next time we’re in the Gulch (or Basin come next week)!
You guys have sold me, gonna make one soon
