The game literally informs and recommends to you, quite aggressively in fact, that you should NOT do this if you are a new player. It makes you have to click “confirm” on a bunch of stuff for you to do this as a new player. So this is already wrong.
And as a direct result…
This is also categorically false. If people ignore the multiple warnings that literally have you HEAVILY recommended to play the tutorial zone … Blizzard can’t force you to do the tutorial, not at least if they want folks to play the game. So no, this isn’t a worry in the slightest.
So drop the whole “but won’t someone think of the new players”-schtick.
Yes. In fact, most of my alts are in green gear able to do LFR to get gearing already. Because you can get very easily a full set decked out in 415 (and the upgrade it to 424) Green tier pieces.
Nothing is new about this, and this is just a very… silly attempt at a “moral panic”-esque argument/rhetoric. It is a poor trolling attempt and you should feel bad for it.
Was it specifically the 424 gear you get from boosting a new character? Because 424 was the maximum you could upgrade season 2 LFR gear (and any veteran gear in general) to.
Anyone who ONLY does LFR and has started playing again for the first time since season 2 is going to have full 424 gear.
Lets say 424 is a plateau and heroic ilvl gear is another plateau. Each plateau (the averaged out ilvl of all players in the raid) increases success, speed, reduces wipes, etc. Why would it not require heroic dungeon gear to reach the easily obtainable plateau that increases the odds for every player to complete a raid successfully and expediently?
What? You dont even have to be good. Just do the heroics lmao. It’s literally good for the health of the game to reach that plateau as a minimum requirement.
I’m confused as hell. I boosted a mage what, 3 days ago? Ran LFR, all new wings, the next day and was literally top 8 in damage (I know, not a huge achievement but hey… I’m in 424 gear!!!). I’m honestly not sure what OP is complaining about. A) It’s LFR. B) what the heck does it matter if I got to 424 on my own (like on this toon) and THEN ran LFR or if I got the iLevel via a boost? As long as I understand my class and the boss mechanics (or lack of in LFR), who cares if the gear is green, blue or purple?
I’m with you. He confuses the daylights out of me and to be honest, it sounds more like someone is mad he’s running with people that will roll need on gear he also wants to roll need on, and ‘requiring’ people to have heroic gear somehow magically means people won’t need better gear…
You can literally boost a character and get raidfinder ready in no time and still have very little clue how to play the game tho. This is the problem with selling max level boosts.
Could have anyone just pop right into tanking or healing with little to no idea how to play well, but alas you’ll learn eventually anyway so meh.
This game currently has a huge barrier-to-entry issue. The reality is that 99.9% of the relevant game occurs at max level. While leveling-up a character can provide somewhat of a learning experience, it can also be a huge barrier to being able to play with friends.
In many cases, you have one (or more) person who already plays on a max level character, trying to get their friend to join the game also so that they can play together. Getting them to that point, where they can play the game together, as quickly as possible, is absolutely vital. Telling the new player that they have to spend days slogging through all the low level zones is a non-starter in many cases. Even if you wanted to try to help that friend via power-leveling them through quests by joining them on your max-level character, that barely even works anymore. So much of the leveling experience funnels you through scripted story content now that you end up phased and can’t help them. Even using the quest-sync feature doesn’t work with these scripted quests in most cases.
No one wants to spend days doing irrelevant content before they even have the chance to actually play with their friends. The chances that they will actually make it to max level before giving up on the game are pretty low…
So fine… let them go straight into LFR. Who cares. While it’s possible that they could literally know nothing about the game, it’s more likely that they will have other better-geared friends in the game who are helping them and maybe even in LFR with them. At least they are able to play the game together. And if they do end up wiping in LFR, that’s what the determination buff is for…
You have been droning on and on about Season 1 throughout this thread. You are aware Heroic gear from those dungeons has had it’s ilvl raised almost 50 points since then, yes?? Pick a lane.
