I’d ask if we can start by having a playable game at the beginning of the season.
Ask him about the word “average” as it applies to PvP.

“Idk just make it good now”
Ah, yes.
Is there a problem with people not wanting to play a game that isn’t good?
No but that’s off topic and not what the threads about lol
It was an on topic reply to what he said.
If people are that anxious about their rating that they wont play before they feel like like they have enough gear, then I suggest finding a different game to play because thats kinda sad.
It’s not about rating anxiety. It’s about bugs and balancing issues creating a game that isn’t fun or enjoyable in any capacity.
Then dont play? If you aren’t having fun why play and why post on the forums then lol.
I agree…
So as I was saying… maybe a good start would be to make the game worth playing.
Oh, no, it’s really just that they forgot to turn the mmr on. ![]()
You finding the game not worth playing is your own personal opinion though.
Most of the issue comes from people thinking that they deserve to or are going to go like 30-2 and immediately hit the top of the ladder.
But in reality they aren’t nearly as good as they think they are and cant except that fact so they go down the same list of excuses
Oh, no, it’s really just that they forgot to turn the mmr on.
Sure, that’s a large part of it… and if somebody’s entire goal is rating there isn’t much benefit to early season queueing.
You finding the game not worth playing is your own personal opinion though.
It’s not. I do play the game actively, and have been since the beginning of the season.
But the game not being worth playing was definitely the more popular opinion. Many players were vocal about the game being in a bad state, and it was largely due to balance and bug issues.
Let’s take my spec for example…

Prob missed some updates too.
Sure, I played the game at expansion launch. But I can’t in my right mind tell anyone else that they wouldn’t benefit from sitting out until things get sharpened up.
I’m honestly just learning about these Voidslivers. Very poorly communicated and unnecessary addition to PvP. Thought it was just some PvE gear progression nonsense so didn’t bother looking into it. Yeah it’s partially my fault for assuming but wth, Blizz.
originally they even said that the first 2-3 weeks were going to see weekly changes to class balance (pve directed commentary) but that alone should’ve pushed people into not settling on what the game was at launch (balance wise).
If people wanted to hold off joining until after that period (which was extended even further) then by all means. I agree/understand that it sucks to play a unpolished version of a pvp game. But by now people should expect that and consider what the first 2-6 weeks of a season (++expansion) entails.
If you enjoy the game, play, if it bothers you, wait until the dust settles. Pushing for rating/completion has always had less resistance as the season progresses… unless you happen to catch a fotm op class for 1-2 weeks early on.
Latest episode of Duped By Fast Food Commercials just dropped. Chick-fil-A Jalepeno Ranch sandwich sucks, which I knew it would yet I still convinced myself that this time would be different.
Gonna just tape a note on my rearview mirror that reminds me fast food sucks for when I forget about it every 2-3mths after I last forgot fast food sucks.
HAHAHA!!! The “convinced myself that this time would be different” line is spot on.

I just learned about it, too. I can’t remember how I learned/heard about it, but it wasn’t from Blizz. Maybe I missed it in the patch notes… old man brain. ![]()
No trolling here.
It’s simply too high brow for the folks here that:
Many older Xpacs with higher PvP participation had the leap from Honor to Conquest gear barely be 10% [in WoD it was 420k to 440k HP, Ilvl 730 to 740 only].
People so used to bad PvP development are still gonna argue that an enormous gap in power from honor to Conquest is a good thing for PvP.
There’s some better stuff in Retail currently like how conquest is earned, but reducing this enormous power disparity from 2 PvP sets in the same season would improve the PvP experience tremendously.
I don’t know how bad full honor gear is even, probably not even 450k HP against 600k HP maxed toons.
You can have progression with 2 sets of PvP gear without this level of a power disparity that trivializes honor gear. WoW did it for almost a decade straight of expansions.
idk Im literally queuing right now at this very moment on my hpal that I havent queued in like 1.5 months at almost 2.2k mmr, thats roughly similarly geared as your character (approx half conquest/half honor when I started today), with 4918 conquest earned, and Im 9 wins/9 losses so far today in solo shuffle. Would some of those losses be wins if I was full geared? Potentially, but its not like the character is just bricked either because I didnt keep up with it. You can still earn conquest and buy the conquest gear…
If anything the disparity should be greater, tied to rating and require more time.
Participation was higher when all of this was the case, curiously. See, I can do it too.
If anything the disparity should be greater
I like conquest gear just being conquest gear, and am kinda neutral on having to earn ilvl upgrades (the voidslivers honestly arent that bad, blizzard could have made it way more painful), but I think there should be a path to upgrade pvp gear to hero/myth track in pve tied to rating or something. Even if they timegate it really long, its kinda bs how mythic raid gear is bis in pvp, but pvp gear is dumpster-tier trash that cant even keep up in +10 keys.
I would have done a lot more keys in past seasons if my pvp geared alts were serviceable without putting a ton of extra time into them to do pve, or having to turbo grief groups/be a hard carry to get there
