I guess I just see it as shouting after a ship that has long since sailed. Server transfers, store bought companion pets (even before pet battles were a thing, it was pure vanity), store mounts, race change, faction transfer. Everyone that tried to say it wasn’t a slippery slope, that Blizzard could draw a line wherever they wanted. Well, It seems pretty clear that Blizzard has no intention of drawing a line, and yet we’re all still here.
Heck, high level PvPers have literally paid for a faction transfer when the racials were clearly superior. That’s not directly pay-to-win but it’s awfully close, and it was implemented years ago.
If you want to clone a character to be able to play on both. For each character you can choose to stay or go, for free. You only have to pay if you want to both move on to BC and clone a copy of your character to keep playing on a Forever Classic realm.
That’s a fair perspective. But my hope was to keep this type of crap out of the Classic versions of World of Warcraft. But when you look at this and the character boost … yeah, that’s just how it’s going to be I think.
So probably what you’re implying is correct: no amount of grousing from the playerbase will stop this. I think the only thing that would is a massive amount of sub cancellations and I doubt that will happen. Too many players don’t have a problem with this these days. To try to pull this crap back in 2006 when TBC was live would have been unthinkable, but now? Sure, throw in the level 58 boost and overpriced character clones. Why not, the players don’t mind getting shagged!
I agree, I really didn’t want to see this happen. I’m not certain how much either of those will effect my experience, and I will certainly give Classic TBC a shot as it was absolutely one of my most favorite times and x-pacs. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
i agree, the price to keep your character on classic era servers is prohibitively expensive. This will result in the servers having drastically less players copy characters over. I think $10-$15 is reasonable. $35 is asinine
Have 4 characters i want to keep on classic thats $35 usd x 4 = $180 Australian Dollars to clone 4 characters … I can’t believe it even needs to be said that this is ridiculous
$35 usd for all my toons yeah ok fair enough per toon your dreaming
I am saying his “I HAVE BEEN AROUND FOREVER” equates to being special is wrong.
No. See the issue with your line of thinking is that you did not comprehend his point correctly. He is merely stating that he has been a loyal customer for years and the company is trying to bleed him dry in the current incarnation of the game. It is not entitlement, but rather frustration at the state of affairs. Next time, don’t regurgitate the same old bs meme and take a minute or two longer to digest what you are reading…
If players are gonna use that service at 35$ a pop, Blizzard would be incredibly foolish to lower it. Just don’t use it and they will eventually lower it. What’s the point in cloning a character, let alone multiple?
Everyone will be leveling their blood elves anyway.
Oh, I didn’t even think about it like that. A decent chunk of people will choose to migrate over to BC for free and never come back. The $35 price tag is enough to make people not want to use the service. And those players probably won’t come back to classic even if they wanted to stay. My only complaint is the price tag of their services. A character copy is $5 dollars less than buying Shadowlands expansion base game, rofl. The BC deluxe edition is $70 dollars. Throw all of the expansions in that price tag. Give classic players a good reason to purchase it. That way we can get players on both retail and classic. Every service on this planet should cost something. I’m not denying that, but this is an old game. It’s not new, but the prices reflect a new game. I’m only worried about our community from classic to BC.
Obviously Blizzard knows a lot of things that I don’t, but this is something I’m really scratching my head about. At $10 per I probably would have paid for 2 or 3 of them. At $35 I’ll never pay that much, I’ll just leave one high level character in classic and level new ones if I feel like it (and provided this doesn’t completely kill off the Classic community).
I guess they’re banking that there are a lot more whales out there and/or no one would seriously clone more than a few characters anyway in order for this price point to pay off.
