PoE started out that way. Then they ate Diablo’s lunch and became Thee ARPG in the industry. It has just enough to draw a crowd and they just kept improving. New World and other games right now have every chance to take over the MMO industry with WoW being down and out.
I think New World will do far better than people realize and they can always get better, where the perception for WoW is it will only get worse.
FF is the most popular MMO right now maybe New World takes the #2 spot.
I loved Wildstar’s idea, problem is you aren’t moving hardcores from one game to another easily, and while you’re trying to do that, you still need a casual playerbase. Completely ignoring them for the “hardcore” was always a disaster.
And this comes from a CE mythic no life type player lol.
I didn’t know Amazon keeps games on a short leash, I guess because for them it’s just one revenue stream of many, and they don’t have as much “heart” in it as companies who do strictly games.
I mean that is why FF is the most popular MMO now. WoW killed itself and FF was there saying “Stick around awhile and listen” Honestly what FF did is an amazing story for all companies to take note.
I only play games based on how many twitch viewer they have, since I dont have a personality and Cant make my own decisions, I rely on the judgement of others for the best gaming experience I can get. My fun is dictated by others too OP.
And all of them combined have less viewers than a streamer licking a ear shaped microphone. Or a few months ago where streamers were doing hot tub/pool streams.
Twitch is not a good indication of the pulse of gaming.
Is there a better one then these platforms? Whether it’s Youtube or Twitch, gamers watch to review the product to see “IF” it’s a place to be. Its thee way to review a game before purchasing. Before them gamers relied on Sub numbers to see where the hype was. Or article in gamer magazines. All that is changed is how the information is delivered. Now it’s delivered in steaming platforms or Youtube.
First of all, it’s consistently in the top-10 on Twitch for concurrent viewers. Secondly, it goes up when there is actually something important going on. You know, like the Race to World First when it literally took over the platform for a week. God, some of these arguments are so short-sighted and downright dumb.
And the moment the Diablo 2 Remaster goes into open beta for the people who pre-ordered, a game that came out 20 years ago is going to eat Path of Exiles lunch for the next 6 months.
New World is being shredded right now by the people that were championing it a few months ago.
Ashes of Creation has people asking what is the direction of the game and it’s been radio silence from the devs on this question.
ESO… well if you don’t know what happened there, just look it up.
Fallout 76 a train wreck.
SE… neat game, easy game, not sure how appealing it is for casuals that want to still experience all aspects of the game on a limited time budget.
Well 9.1 just released. Isn’t that important? A patch that took 8 months to get out didn’t drawn in a crowd to play or watch? That is extremely telling. It’s because all metrics are down for 9.1 in every conceivable way. Right now WoW should be #1 without a doubt. It should be thee hype and it’s thee meme instead.
Again hopefully this is the reckoning that this game needed and a massive shake up and changes happen within Blizzard.
Most new MMOs are lucky if they even get out of the development stage. For every Ashes of Creation that limps to the finish line, there are 5 or 6 others that fall apart long before even a whisper of an actual release.
