Leveling Since Launch Is a Miserable Slog Compared to Beta

I’ve been playing WoW Forever since launch, and something is seriously off with the leveling pace compared to beta. I don’t know what you changed, but you’ve managed to turn what was a genuinely fun experience into a miserable slog.

Dungeons are a complete waste of time.

I ran Ragefire Chasm twice, and my XP bar barely moved. Dungeons should break up the monotony of questing, give players an opportunity to test their classes in a group, and reward them with a meaningful chunk of experience.

Instead, you spend all that time forming a group, traveling, and clearing an instance only to discover you would have been better off killing boars. Why bother?

The open world isn’t any better.

  • The Green Mob Nerf: Penalizing XP for killing lower-level mobs is ridiculous. You’re actively punishing players for efficiently killing things. Instead of rewarding good routing and smart play, you’re pushing everyone toward slower, more dangerous pulls just to earn normal experience.

  • Abysmal Drop Rates: I play as a duo, and despite your claims that collection quests were improved for groups, we’re still spending absurd amounts of time waiting for quest items to drop. That’s assuming we can even find mobs to kill. Nothing says fun quite like arriving at a quest location to find seven other players competing for the same handful of spawns.

  • Mandatory Buff Gating: It feels like baseline XP has been tuned around the assumption that everyone is constantly juggling camping buffs, food buffs, and every other temporary bonus available. These should be optional bonuses, not homework you have to complete just to make leveling feel tolerable. Camping isn’t some wonderful social experience when players feel compelled to do it for efficiency.

And the worst part? Beta was fun.

I was genuinely excited to level characters. Now, every level feels like an endurance test. Dungeons aren’t rewarding, questing is tedious, and the systems supposedly designed to make leveling more enjoyable just add another layer of chores.

I understand that you don’t want people hitting 60 overnight. Neither do I. But there’s a considerable difference between making leveling a meaningful journey and deliberately stretching it out until players stop enjoying themselves.

I’m not having fun. Beta was great. Whatever you changed between beta and launch, revert it. Because right now, the game completely sucks.

I already did. Did you not read the post?

You actually don’t lose XP from killing green mobs. You’re gaining the same rate of XP, but it seems lower because the CAP to level is higher. The same applies to green and grey quests.

Yep.

Nowhere did you mention that you stopped playing.

No, you’re wrong, green mobs under level 30 are pretty horrible xp wise now. Go do some research and come back.

Dungeons are horrid right now. Repeating to chase gear feels like horrible. Questing without gear upgrades feel horrible. The whole experience is broken beyond belief.

I played vanilla for 300d before tbc came out. I’ve played this game for more hours than you ever will. Classic .. lol .. alright johnny come lately. I have half a dozen 60’s from classic too.

Classic was fun.

Vanilla was fun.

Forever beta was fun.

Whatever this crap is .. is not fun. I don’t know what they did for launch, but it’s completely poo’d the bed.

I don’t know why I bothered to read all that, you’re very cool and I don’t care

Unless one ahs some nice friends who power leveled to mage weave bags already…I don’t see the camp fire issue.

Most will be going back to town to clear bags at least once an hour. adding 1 more minute to that is not all the rough to me

XP bonus on food is nice as many of classicly trained players do this anyway. Food for stats, xp for bonus? Cool

classic food is boring I will grant since stamina (outland we get all the stats to taste) till end game foods. But, it helps when you get those oh crap timing spaws in a cave.

I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills.

My problem with it is that you aren’t getting more xp out of it. You get to micromanage and click a stupid button every 15 min, just to try and get back what they look away.

Camping .. meh .I wish the violet thing worked half the time so I could get 2h buffs, but for some reason, it always bugs.

the xp for them should be horrible, because right now im finding that green mobs hit like wusses.

There are classes, like warrior pre mid 30’s that have always ground on green mobs because they couldn’t efficiently kill anything else.
They still can’t .. AND now they get to enjoy less xp too

can you exlaborate a little more on what made the forever beta fun as opposed to what’s now?
