The Venomous Abyss Raid Tuning Incoming

Greetings, raiders!

We’ll be making a number of adjustments to encounters in the Venomous Abyss over the next few days. You can find the details below and we’ll update hotfixes when they are live.

The Venomous Abyss

    • Blood Venom pool duration reduced to 2 minutes on Mythic difficulty (was 5 minutes).

    • Malignance damage over time duration reduced to 16 seconds on Mythic difficulty.
  • Twin Fangs
    • Visceral Burst damage reduced by 40% on Mythic difficulty.
  • The Coiled Altar

      • Developers’ notes: With this change Soulcoilers will now spawn similarly to how they spawn on Heroic difficulty.
  • Ula’tek
    • Adjusted the health scaling on the following enemies on Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic difficulties to better account for smaller raid sizes. Their base health has also been reduced on these difficulties to ensure the health scaling does not increase their health with larger raid sizes.

80% on some mechanics seems wild, but is what it is, better some tuning than none

“Guys please stop quitting the raid and please continue progging and please come back”

This shouldve been done a month ago. Too little too late.

I know “Never make another raid like this again” isn’t really helpful feedback but uh … Please don’t.

Excellent, can do my Ula’tek kill tomorrow night and have more time in Forever afterwards.

You really screwed up this raid, Blizzard. At least you are admitting that now.

This should have happened a couple months ago. This raid was way overtuned compared to any recent raid.

This whole season has been a cascading sequence of disasters. This is certainly a too little, too late kind of change, isn’t it?

Maybe the next season will be better, but this one seems to already be dead and dusted.

While those Ula nerfs are a bit on the late side they’re definitely welcomed. Even in groups that kill her in one try with zero issues her health felt like it was a good 15-20% too high. One of those “this fight is super long seemingly just for the sake of it because it has too much health” sort of things.

Sepulcher type of nerfs when the content difficulty isn’t really that higher than normal, guess raid numbers aren’t looking as good or someone just want to hurry everyone to finish the tier. Not a fan personally, it’s one of the reason I didn’t care to finish Sepulcher because CE doesn’t mean much when they chop bosses legs.

Huge W. If we go into Season 3 with these kind of tunings in mind it will be an incredible season

Listening to people like you is one of the classic mistakes of game design.

Seems a bit excessive to me

LOL on decreasing difficulty of Ula’tek more than Coiled Altar in normal raids. Altar has been WAY harder of a fight than Ula’tek all season. Sooo many PUG altar wipes, very few Ula.

If you want to talk about it I’m open to and if they listened to me the game would be way different. I don’t think what they did in Sepulcher of the first ones was good. The issue is that the biggest nerfs should be after the race, same as Tindral waiting for HoF to nerf bosses to feel decent is bad and pushing this type of sweeping nerfs at the end of a patch simply trying to get everyone CE. If that’s the goal then maybe there should be another difficulty of raiding or they should be better at tuning so we don’t need “this”. You can like the nerfs but they are still a result of them admitting they failed to design/tune this raid to me, same as Sepulcher.

Should just have a horse hanging in front of the raid.

No one really cares about this because almost all players are in Forever now.

For the 1-2 months the hype lasts, ya.
