Where is everybody? Ghost towns on launch day?

As I’m standing here in Ironforge at the bank while logging in to post this, I have seen exactly two other humans approach the counter. It’s been 5-10 minutes. I’m on the rp-pvp server, but still, this is launch day. I know that a ton of people are there. I just don’t see them. It feels like going to Ironforge’s deserted husk in retail. Something is up with layering and it’s really janking my immersion.

leave ironforge. Go quest. They’re out there.

They likely have the sharding cranked up too high. Hope it gets addressed after a bit.

The sharing is turned up quite high. I was in Durotar for a few hours this evening. I definitely saw people, but it was generally the same 30 people or so. I only saw five people when I swung through Orgrimar.

I was just commenting on this as well. The launch itself seems to have gone pretty smooth so props to Blizz on that. However, I would like to see them adjust the sharding just a bit so the world feels more alive. Hopefully that is something they tweak in the next few days.

Yes, the layering/sharding is absolutely excessive. I rather be fighting other people for a mob tag than playing in an empty world.

there was …
now where are they

im sitting outside undercity inbetween blimp and undercity and i seen 1 guy in last 20 minutes

When I first started in the Night Elf zone there were a ton of people and it slowly died off. Maybe some of us just got shuffled to a really dead layer. But being on the Normal PVE ruleset I would think there would be a ton more people around.
