Are any specific lore related guild names restricted? The name of the guild we wanted was a continuation of our former guild name from Classic WoW on Grobb. We speedrun the charter signature but the name appeared as taken. We reviewed other rulesets and /who if anyone was already in a guild named like that and seemed like they did not. It is also an Alliance only name for a guild, so a horde guild having it would not make sense on the RP-PVP server.

Same Issue. Now it has taken my money for a guild charter TWICE !!! Plenty of other guilds running around.. but it eats my guild charter and takes the money every time

Same thing for my guild. We registered a niche name very early and it says it’s unavailable.
Using /who to check for our name brings no results.

I was able to purchase a guild charter, get my 10 sigs, and then when I went to register the guild, it made the noise like it was created, but says im not in a guild. The charter is gone.
Shows people online in the guild with /who, but when I whisper them, they say it shows they’re not in a guild. They cannot /ginvite, and their guild interface shows they’re not in a guild.
It’s just… not there. a phantom guild.

I purchased a guild charter, collected all required signatures, and attempted to register it.
The registrar displayed the error “There is already a guild named (my guild name)”, then the client became unresponsive and I had to force-close it using Alt+F4.
After restarting, I couldn’t log back into the character that attempted registration. I received “A character with that name already exists.”
Additional details:

I successfully created a guild with this exact name during beta.

The signed charter was obtained less than an hour before the failed submission.

I have the same issue, I even deleted the first charter and collected 10 more signs and it still says the same thing. In the process of flying to Org to see if I can turn the charter in there rather than UC.

I am also having this Issue. I have also been teleported back to starting points on Flights from Og to TB. and stuck out of game with "That character already exists.
I am having this exact issue now. I couldn’t register the guild despite having 10 signatures, I tried turning it in but then it said that the name already existed. I /who and nothing came up. I then tried closing the game to restart and it wouldn’t, so I alt-F4. Upon trying to log back into my character I get a “That character already exists” and now I can’t log into the game

Same issue for me as well! If this truly is a bug, id like to be able to get my original guild name. I had to go with an alternative for now

This exact situation describes what happened to me yesterday. Tried to create the guild, game got unresponsive, and had to wait the server time-out to get back in to the game
Same situation - tried making a guild, says “guild name already taken”, and now I can’t log back in until the server timeout happens.
So I solved my issue, my guild name was already taken. When you purchase the charter and enter a name it doesn’t check if that name was already claimed. It doesn’t do the check until you try to register the name. To figure out if someone had your guild name, check the armory: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/forever/us/armory
This doesn’t explain why my client froze up but does explain why I thought had a name reserved but it was taken. I hope this helps!

Was yours exactly taken? The one I’m trying to make is all lowercase and the one that already exists is all uppercase, so not sure if that means I can’t use the all lowercase version.
I’m experiencing the same issue on the WoW Forever PvE ruleset.
I purchased a guild charter, collected all nine required signatures, and received the error “There is already a guild named…” when attempting to register it.
I’ve tried registering at two different guild registrars, including the original location where the charter was purchased, with the same result.
I also disabled all installed addons and tested again without success.
During troubleshooting, my character became stuck online and required a forced exit. I was eventually able to log back in, but the guild registration issue persists.
The charter still has all nine signatures. Hopefully this can be investigated and resolved without requiring players to abandon their existing charters.

When I searched for mixes of upper/lower case in the armory, the same guild kept coming up so I’m guessing they’re not case sensitive.
You can change the name on the charter. It’s probably actually taken. Check the armory.
