Still Can't Make an Undead Character

I’ve been trying for a week to make my main - an Undead warlock.

It’s still locked.

Is this only until launch day? Otherwise, it would be kind of ridiculous to be locked out of a whole race in a game I pay for.

Edit - Solution taken from Kovatch’s comment further down in the comments:

If you get the error “Creation of that type of character is currently throttled.”, here are some known fixes:

  • Change Rulesets, then go back. Try again.
  • Restart the client.
  • Wait a few minutes.

The race isn’t locked, the faction is. And yes, it’ll probably open up as soon as it goes live, because there will be thousands of people who will see the message and be like “oh? whatever, I’ll just go Alliance”.

That’s so frustrating…

I did make a Human Paladin as well but I my fave race is Undead so it makes sense I want my first experience in Forever to be on my fave race.

Guess I’ll try again soon when it launches.

Wait, hang on. What ruleset are you on?

If you made an Alliance toon on a PvP ruleset, it will not allow you to make a Horde toon on that same Ruleset unless you delete the Alliance toon.

That said.. Horde being faction locked should be of no surprise. Everyone and their brother is making an Undead Paladin.

Sorry I should have clarified, I made the alliance on the normal ruleset and am trying to make an Undead on the PvP ruleset. I figured out only about 10 minutes ago you can’t have both Horde and Alliance on one ruleset.

When you are making the undead. Spam create it, don’t worry about class/race/customization. Just get a horde created.

Once you have a horde character on the PvP ruleset, you will not get locked again and you can freely make the character you want.

Yes, then from there you can make a second one that you actually care about, and then delete the first.

  • Create your character
  • Faction Locked? Back out to Character Select.
  • Go back in.
  • Try to Create character.

If you get the error “Creation of that type of character is currently throttled.”, here are some known fixes:

  • Change Rulesets, then go back. Try again.
  • Restart the client.
  • Wait a few minutes.

Depending on time of day, getting your faction could take a few minutes, or it could take longer. Be patient and keep going. You WILL get your faction. Been there, done that, trust me, you’ll get it :slight_smile:
