Why remove lava burst? It added so much flavor and class fantasy to elemental. It also incentivized using flame shock. Please bring it back, I don’t want to just spam lightning bolt with an occasional chain lightning.

I’ve always wondered why people seem to hate Lava Burst for no apparent reason…it’s just a spell you use on cooldown and then go back to Lightning Bolt spam, yet people treat it like it kicks their dog every time they have to cast it

For one I won’t be playing Elemental now and not sure I’ll even bother with Shaman the way they waited till the last minute to gut them.

Ok I have 2 theorys, 1 they made it a spell because they only mentioned they removed it from the talent tree as a spell but some talents still have it getting damage buffs.
Or 2. They did make elemental shammy boring, as I was going to main it as I did in SoD and Mop I was so excited to get a set for instant cast lava burst as it was the best part of shammy.

Because dumbasses whined that having anything other than lightning spells “Ruined Elemental”, despite Elemental being the Air and Fire aligned specialization of shaman.
To put it simply… dumbass Classic Purists whined and complained, so they removed Elemental from Forever.

It’s a win for class fantasy, as lightning feels like the primary element and is weighted to be powerful.
The drawback is now we lost any sense of complexity or spell rotation we had from FS+LvB and changing schools of magic in PvP.
It’s a shame because we don’t even have Fulmination to pay off any kind of build up or spell rotation, we just have Lightning Bolt.

Right… shamans, the “Masters of the Elements” is known for being a Lightning Rod (despite that ability not being introduced until Legion) and nothing else. There’s nothing like an iconic phrase like “Storm, earth, and fire - heed my call” or anything like that which is identifiable with shamans at all.
You got what you wanted and that’s to be a lightning rod spamming nothing but one ability and nothing other than that. You don’t like shamans and you have made that clear as day. What you want to do is to roleplay a copper rod on top of a skyscraper and have that be your entire personality.

Literally the only people who wanted it gone are people such as the “copper rod roleplayer” I responded to; in other words … folks who don’t like or play shamans.

It’s not a win for class fantasy because ele can use more than just lightning. It’s a win for the people whose brains can’t function with an extra ability to click.

They can yeah, but many iterations of Ele have weak hitting LB and CL.
In Classic, Ele was definitely a lightning based caster, something akin to the Stormbringer hero spec archetype and that’s why people didn’t want Lavaburst to be so heavy.
