LOL so you’re going to try to force us to play a faction we have no interest in and never have? Okay I’d rather have my money back please.
That is a heck of a way to push people away from using your product.

Faction Balance > You
guild name checks out.
Just play on the Normal ruleset.
Faction balance is imperative to PvP servers. If you don’t care about it you can roll on the PvE rulesets just fine
Just wait until you can play the faction you want.
Does it really matter when 90% of the population will ALWAYS be on another layer?
Or just be a normal person & wait some hours untill its balanced enough to create your toon where you like.
Game isnt out yet if you know ?
Jarvis, pull up the gif of rhe scummy lawyer from the Bee movie.
Add the caption “PvP players when they have to PvP and aren’t on a 99% horde server”
Send it to OP’s mother.
Wait until 2 to 3 weeks for pvp ruleset to open for the Horde while everyone else is leveling?
That’s such an over-exaggeration lol, more like wait 5 minutes.
That’s assuming people stick around in general; if Horde players wind up leaving, do their characters still count against the pop caps? If they don’t, what happens when they return? Forced deletion? Login queue? Faction change?
The hostility toward realizing this is a problem feels less like concern for a truly balanced PvP experience and more for desperately trying to establish a ‘cool kids’ club that only the early buyers get to join.
This is also a problem that is going to worsen with age; as people naturally leave when the shine wears off, the populations will calcify and the wait time will stretch longer and longer.
These posts are getting very tiring. This is the third? iteration of faction lock and come launch day it will be flipping on and off so much that you can just make whatever character you want anyways after a few minutes of delay. As long as people keep dogpiling onto horde the faction locks will remain. Otherwise pvp realms will just be horde pve with no one to fight. So without the lock there’s not even a point to have or play on pvp realms.
If people are dogpiling the Horde on PvP, Blizzard has already failed because that indicates the Alliance is the second-class faction and unless they can figure out how to make the Alliance actually appeal, then Horde effectively becomes static.
These threads are the harbinger of a bigger problem looming.
With sharding the larger faction usually just ends up in overflow shards by themselves if there’s too many of them. The classic cultists probably don’t like that idea though because it means some people get ganked less than others while leveling.
You’d think sharding and layering would be the actual fix to this that outright denying gameplay options to players based on other players’ actions but Blizzard’s never been one for subtle and graceful systems.
Give it a little time, it’ll even out eventually and you can try again. The amount of people complaining that they can’t pick Horde is proof that this balancing is needed, by the way.
You’re not wrong. I would rather both be appealing enough that the population naturally balances out, but what can blizzard do at this point? I started Alliance back in the day and stuck with it for years but now I just find Horde so much more diverse/interesting, particularly in a classic setting. For me personally the only way I’d commit to locking alliance on a pvp server is if they got AT LEAST 1 race that really appealed to me, ideally 2. And I’m talking about aesthetics. And even then the overall Alliance theme is still very human and typical. I like the tribal Horde.
In terms of game balance I was hoping Alliance would be OP to encourage more people to play it, but the Horde players who are now locked out of their faction were crying for nerfs so here we are.
Working as intended.
Layering isn’t some panacea to PvP server balance. There’s other things that matter.
