Being able to click one button and automatically find a group and get teleported to a dungeon absolutely destroys MMOs.
Doing so simply enables toxic and anti social behavior in the community. People treat each other like garbage because nobody is afraid of getting kicked or having their reputation hurt. It just promotes the worst of the community and takes away the biggest social aspect of playing WoW.
Please do not listen to the loud minority that asks for a dungeon finder. Classic and Forever are popular because people crave the old school MMOs experience.
The current system promotes socialization. It promotes communication and collaboration. It promotes emergent gameplay. It promotes unique journeys and experiences and makes the world feel alive. And most importantly it promotes good behavior. Being cordial and respectful to your teammates, being considerate, following the community etiquette.
If people can just click a button and teleport, they don’t need to talk to each other. They don’t need to travel within the world. They don’t need to treat each other well. It just turns the game into a bunch of mindless dungeon spamming toxic bots, and you mind as well play a single player game.
If anyone from Blizzard reads this. Please don’t add such a thing.

I also remember the devs saying in one of the podcasts that they don’t plan on adding it, because then they’d be taking away the Warlock’s jobs as summoners.

I am new to the forums. I saw a post on social media saying the devs are strongly considering adding a dungeon finder. But I can find no such post on the forum so I am wondering now if it was fake.
If it was fake I guess it was successful at riling me up.

im sympathetic to the old heads that like it the OG way, but there has to be some compromise somewhere
If you can just click a button and teleport to a dungeon you’re more likely to be toxic, rude, and demonstrate poor etiquette. If you have to form a group and travel to the dungeon, getting kicked for bad behavior is a bigger deal since it wastes a lot of time.
I think this bothers a lot of toxic people, who resent that poor behavior carries with it consequences.

Now can Classic players stop thinking they’re the most persecuted people in the world and that everyone is out to get them? Just because some people asked for RDF at some point doesn’t mean its in any way likely.

The design of the Vanilla world doesn’t really lend itself to a dungeon finder, with leveling dungeons only being worth doing once and no cluster of heroic dungeons to farm at endgame, but the retail group finder would be fit perfectly

Yeah but people who are against it need to speak up so Blizzard social media staff see that there are other opinions and they shouldn’t be swayed by a loud minority of players who are more likely to complain.
The type of person who whines about having to find a group and walk to a dungeon are probably also more likely to whine and complain on forums.
I just don’t think we need a million threads for every dumb idea. When people post them there’s usually a deluge of people telling them it’s dumb. I think Blizzard can realize that it’s not generally supported.
But I’m sure it will just keep happening anyway. In 6 days (or let’s be real 7 days when the fires are put out) I guess I won’t really care all that much.
WF is world centric, this is opposing that core principle.
So it won’t happen.

Don’t worry, they will never add this.
They didn’t add it to Wrath, it certainly doesn’t fit in a classic/vanilla setting. They wouldn’t even consider the pre-cursor to this, which is meeting stone summons.
I am 100% confident this NEVER gets added.

From what I can tell it’s people who don’t actually have in game but like to pretend the people they pug dungeons with are anything other than single serving friends.

Dark horse long shot for me is 3-4 years.
Brian then Aggrend pushed this since day 1 2019. But they said its not being planned for at the time. It wasn’t a no. They used the same wording here too.
and…wrath redo saw it. It was planned for then lol.
To push this off all you rdf haterz will have to make required leveling alts for the next 5 years if you play this. stagger them…6 month cycles to keep up attendance consistently.
We got this in wrath since at some point you weren’t even getting SM runs easily. For any wing, gy to whitemane was dead.
Noting RDF did help here. Hell I even fresh started on new servers when we got it. to leverage early t-mog access. Sometimes a wanted mog is cheaper in another AH when RNG fails you.
You can want it all you want. There is not a chance in H**L it happens.
The forums had thousands of posts and comments in Wrath classic asking for it, and the devs held firm. And this is Vanilla.
They won’t even do meeting stone summons, let alone this.
If you want RDF, Retail is that way
