To me specializations are an extremely important part of professions in general.
The ability to be able to do something significantly better than anyone else in your profession is not only a really fun RP aspect, but a really powerful economic tool for many players.
I would like to touch on Blacksmithing first because it has so many ways to go:
Armorsmithing, Swordsmith, Axesmith, Macesmith. Four separate routes - yet for the longest time they have all felt really lack luster at the peak and down right pointless at their trough.
I would love to see specialization really matter more in Forever - as we progress through the game having recipes that require these specializations should be a key focus.
We would be looking at new armors, but only armor smiths can make (they are epic after all), new swords, axes, maces that only the respective specialization can make.
I would also love to see a things that make thematic sense. Something like Armorsmiths can improve a piece of armor (like the belt), but weapon smiths can craft a unique kind of sharpening or whetstone that is superior to any other option - that is where they get their power curve (vs more stats on armor…for a weapon smith).
I think this should also be done for other professions. Like in TBC we had xmute, potion, and elixir specializations. I would prefer to see recipes that ONLY they can do. Same with Leatherworkers, tailors, etc.
I think this especially rings true to me due to the Megaserver aspect we will now be on. It will create a level of scarcity on some items and it will make players seek out specific crafters and friend them.
Just my thoughts.
