Reposting here ARMS warr changes (I'm looking at you, Kaivax)

Too many warriors going greedy and suggesting OP fixes. Here’s what we need:

  • Slam needs to be IC, 115% weapon damage with no extras and keep the it the way it is now (doesn’t reset the swing timer). If you compare to fury, basically fury gets 2x100% 1h weapon damage, which culminates to more than 100% 2h weapon damage when using whilrwind

  • Blocks, dodges, partial blocks, parries and misses should proc overpower. However, after you use overpower, it needs to run the whole 5s before being able to proc again (so it can’t proc before the cd is actually over).

- Bloodthrill: every mortal strike critical has a 70% chance to proc an instant Heroic Strike (off GCD) (so you don’t have to wait on swing for a 2h slow weapon)

  • Spearing strike - 70% weapon damage hit, increased by 50% when hitting Giants, Dragons and Demon/undead. That way we get an actual good MH hit that fishes procs for WF/Extra attacks without being too OP. Same final damage but with more upfront damage.

These changes incur a damage increase and a few more overpower procs (and some APM increase) without a crazy jump in dps. Also spearing strike base damage to 70% is not a crazy gain to make the talent worth picking up in any fight.

I’d move Improved Intercept from the fury tree down to the 2nd row so arms warriors can take it, if Improved Charge isn’t going to be buffed to work in combat.

I wouldn’t do that yet because in raids you can definitely stay slightly longer out of combat and then charge, there are workarouds. I’d rather have buttons worth pressing as arms, tbh. Actual 2h hard crits, y’know?

Okay so giving benefit of the doubt here that you just don’t know this, there is a damage penalty on offhand weapons of 50%. Dual wield specialization increases that to 75% but that’s it. So you may wanna recheck your buff ideas.

Also the random increase in damage to demon and undead, you a pally now? That class is right there if you want that theme.

are we gonna be seeing Kaivax on the weekly forever podcast with josh and josh? i didnt realize he got promoted to a game designer, big grats

Prot warrior should have the worst aoe in the game but for some reason blizzard cant figure out how to tune a 20 year old game. If blizzard wants warriors to be the best single target tank and be crush immune they need to give up the aoe damage/threat. Let’s give pallies their aoe spot back.

These changes would increase damage significantly, that would be potentially more OP than what most suggest. The main issue with Arms is that without Prot’s rage generation through mitigation talents and Fury’s DW rage gen and Flurry uptime, Arms is disproportionately affected by rage normalization @ end game. PvP especially.

Most Arms warriors want a return to similar APM as classic without the damage buffs. Arms will however need a greater tool kit than classic when it comes to the current class meta even if rage became similar to classic end game.

Arms as a complete tree needs to fund its core PvP kit (Pummel,Intercept, intimidating shout, hamstring, demo shout, rend, disarm, piercing howl, stance dancing, mortal strike etc.) along with a rewarding PvE rotation with utility included (Sunder, Tclap, demo shout) - blood frenzy -4%.

Adding damage to arms without rage totally alienates the high APM playstyle and it’s PvP viability.

Fixing Arms PvP & PvE starts with an increase of Arms 2H specific rage generation. Damage tuning comes after. Mobility, Utility, Sustain & Mitigation all need looked at.

All that said, and anyway you look at it, Arms will need a significant amount of work and should have received it in Beta. - doubt we will see it even after launch at this point.

Rage economy needs to be fixed for it in pve for sure. Easiest way remove rage cost from Sweeping Strikes. Drop rage cost on MS. Do something with slam. Maybe make spearing strike generate rage on demand. That would be a good start point. Would make us at least functional and have the ability to swap stances without massive dps loss.

I don’t think they want to make PVP changes until they see how it starts to play out at 60. I wouldn’t expect any PVP changes til 3-4 months in. Too many classes go too many changes that pvp meta’s going to take a while to settle and I’m ok with them being hands off until then.

Sorry, I thought the /s was implied. Kaivax is the dude that posts the updates, meant to “confuse” him with a dev.
