Has the name anyone else used in the beta now been restricted?
The name i’ve been using all beta isn’t rude, it’s not crude, it’s not a game reference, it’s the name i’ve used on both retail and classic, and also the forever beta, but it’s restricted now come name reservations???
Anyone else run into this?
Yes it happened to me. Also there are threads with people who have a character name on retail that is restricted on Forever.
Can’t even log in. No realms available. Been like that for the last hour and a half.
they messed up really badly. they hotfixed in a new version of the table that contains reserved names, and it contains a bunch of words that are reserved by windows like CON, NUL, PRN, etc. (which you do want to be restricted - my first ever character was named Aux, which is a restricted word, and i couldn’t use addons because windows couldn’t create a folder for my savedvariables) but they didn’t include the normal formatting that would allow those names to be used as part of another name (usually something like \bcon\b) which means that any name that contains those sequences of letters is now considered restricted. i cant stop laughing.
Lol my longtime name “Babypuke” got banned mid-beta, I think because I had to put a ticket in to fix an issue and the GM didn’t like it. R.I.P. ‘Gladiator Babypuke’, o7 for your decades of service grossing people out.

Yep, my beta name was restricted.
All the names I used in the beta were unable to be used in the reservation. Perhaps they were all taken but I doubt it. Seriously upset.
Why is that the goal with a character name?
Are you chronically 14 years old?
