Unpopular Opinion? The current Profession & Reputation system feels terrible for open-world PvP

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my feedback regarding the profession progression and recipe acquisition through reputations (like Durotar Supply and Logistics) after testing it during the Beta.

I played a Balance Druid, and while cap level testing gave us plenty of time to focus on professions, I am genuinely concerned about how this system will feel at launch—especially on PvP realms.

Here are the main issues I experienced with the current system:

  1. Gated Progression via Daily Deliveries: Having high-level recipes locked behind reputation gates is fine on paper, but the daily limit on object deliveries makes it extremely tedious. You cannot stock up on writs & multiple identical items to hand them all in at once. Having to travel back and forth across 25–35 contested zones just to drop off single deliveries feels punishing rather than rewarding when you are constantly at risk of getting ganked.

  2. Every Tier Needs a New Reputation Level: At level 30, I dropped Skinning to pick up Enchanting. While crafting my own staff, off-hand, and idol felt great, hitting a hard wall where every single tier upgrade requires the next reputation standing feels overwhelming. It creates an artificial grind that halts natural profession pacing.

  3. Excessive Alchemy & Ultra-Rare Drop Reagents: Requiring alchemy-crafted materials and rare dyes obtained through extremely low drop rates on herb nodes (similar to Retail Lotus drops) adds another layer of unnecessary frustration. High-effort gathering is fine, but double-RNG on basic crafting materials on a contested PvP server makes crafting feel like a chore rather than a fun endgame activity.

On a PvP server, most players just want to level efficiently, keep up with gear, and defend themselves against the opposing faction. Spending hours running solo delivery routes in high-danger zones for basic recipes discourages players from engaging with crafting altogether.

Because of this system, I am seriously considering abandoning crafting crafts entirely and just leveling with Skinning and Herbalism for pure gold generation.

I really hope the developers consider adjusting the reputation gains or easing the delivery restrictions before launch to make crafting fun and accessible for both PvE and PvP players.

Is anyone else feeling discouraged by this system, or planning to stick strictly to gathering professions at launch?
