Sorta like the title says…as a person who pretty much does pve endgame content such as raiding…I kind of feel like im forced into playing human (I was always going alliance) for the now 10% spirit, which we rely on the most.
Am I overthinking completely?
Why? Were you unable to do your job as a priest without it? It’s a wonder anyone ever cleared Molten Core without it I guess. This is Classic era raiding. Just play what you want and you’ll be fine.
It’s a you issue, stop min/maxing and play what you want.
Unless you’re in a speedrunning or top parsing guild, or plan to try to be in one of those sweaty guilds, I really wouldn’t worry about it for PvE. If you’re in one of those guilds, talk it over with your guildies, otherwise, I wouldn’t worry about it. Nobody on launch is going to give af what race you are except you.
Human is very solid for priest.
But it’s not like Night elf and Gnome do not have something to bring to the table.
Night elf 10% crit cooldown is a better burst cooldown than anything humans can do.
Gnome gets a bit of mana efficency, and their priest spell is really good.
I don’t think it is a forced choice at all.
Nelf and gnome bring better OH CRAP buttons… humans are bit more consistent.
In farm content Nelf/gnome will be better than human very likely. Otherwise it is probably encounter specific.
Dwarf Priest is the real one kind of left out from their glory. They are a solid pvp choice, but they are clear loser in pve.
Just play any race man. PVE healing is like the least impacted thing by racials.
All PVE racials are like 1-3% of each other its not that big of a deal.
Then you haven’t looked at the racial only spells each race gets for priest, cuz gnome is the best.
it’s even less than that now. they within 1% of each other
Oh noes!!! You have to make a decision in an RPG!! Whatever will you do!!!
I don’t know what other effects Spirit has on a Priest, but from what I’ve found, if you maxed out your spirit, you’d get about 62MP/5 regeneration while in the not casting state.
And it looks like with talents, this could also add roughly 5 healing and 1 damage per rank of the talent.
The numbers you deal with in Classic/Forever are simply not that high. Will it help? Obviously. Is it mandatory? I don’t think so.
I’m confident you’ll have gearing options or consumables to compensate race nerfs.
not to mention pretty insane camp buffs for their duration.
Dwarf priest is the only one that truly got left out in PvE. Especially from their former glory in classic.
The other 3 on alliance all have their own merits.
Dwarf priest is a very solid pvp choice though.
NGL…humans BIS for this is the animations. I’ve tried nelf s. priest and the night elf casting animations are an affront to my eyes.
Even MC from meld had me go dude…the animations kill even the fun factor of that.
NE bats 2/3 for me here. I like 2 hander anim (2 hand hunter or DK when a thing). Love hunter bow anims. magic casts…nope.
Yes, you are.
Dwarf is very solid for shadow for the hit too.
Human 10% spirit is really hard to evaluate. Any fight you end with mana it did nothing. And how much are you going to be deliberately gearing spirit in the first place.
Holy priests get a litttle healing power through it. So it is somewhat meaningful.
But it is nowhere near a “Roll Human priest or you trash” situation lol
And true Dwarf shadow priest is solid. You can pick between Nelf, human, and dwarf as a shadow priest for PvE and PVP without feeling bad at all.
PvE healing though they are clearly behind… which is okay.
I do feel like 10% spirit is kinda huge, blizzard seems to think 5% spirit is worth 1% crit
I think it depends on what you want to do. Gnomes and humans have the best racial for healing. Night elf have the best for damage. If you are planning to switch between healing and shadow DPS I would probably go human though. I think their racials are the best for for switching between between dps and healing if that is something you plan to do frequently.

Ah that’s fair. I haven’t really looked at holy much.
For shadow it feels like all 4 alliance options are pretty much the same. Just depends what boss kill times look like.
Night elf have the best for damage.
Not sure how true that is. 10% crit 1/12 of the time averages to less than 1%.

Idk, having a 10% crit cooldown is good for healing too imo.
