Can a Forsaken still serve the Light? Join the fallen crusader, Cormack, for a special fireside telling of our newest short story, “Unbowed”.
Sweet ! Thanks for Forver content.
I’ve not paid attention but will retail get forever content as a phased option since they run on similar clients?
So… like… if I’m not mistaken… the order of events is:
- Lordaeron destroyed by Arthas
- Raises the citizens into undeath
- Illidan damages the Frozen Throne, freeing the Forsaken from Arthas’ control
- The Order of the Silver Hand tries to combat the undead, Alexandros Morgraine dies at the hand of his son Renault, and the Order of the Silver Hand splits into The Argent Dawn and the Scarlet Crusade.
So how did a Scarlet Crusader get killed by Arthas, raised into Undeath, and break free of his control?
Just wait till the release to understand
Because the devs said they do not have any connection to the retail wow. They are free to do how the story proceeds.
This doesn’t have anything to do with a connection to retail, this is the order of events pre-classic. If they’re gonna add to the lore with new races and whatever then sure, great, but they’ve stated Forever is jumping off from shortly after Warcraft 3, not shortly after an altered version of Warcraft 3 that doesn’t exist and we’re making up as we go. If in the Forever’s timeline the Forsaken were created in an entirely different method then I’mma need a book talking about that and not just a story about a guy who can’t possibly exist in the established lore we’re building the framework of our new story off of.
Story writers not knowing the background, history, and timeline of the franchise they’re being paid money to write for has been plaguing retail for years and I don’t want that same energy coming to Forever.
If in Forever, the War of the Ancients never happened then cool, but I’m gonna need a book explaining that and talking about what did happen before we get a story where the Quilboar are hanging out somewhere and Agamaggan is just chilling in the corner, fully alive and well.
Neat little tale. But that video came across as awfully cheap to be honest.
You’re a little out of order.
The Silver Hand was shattered during the Third War prior to Arthas’ ascension to the throne. Those who survived founded three separate orders:
- The Argent Dawn
- The Scarlet Crusade, under Alexandros Mograine
- The Brotherhood of the Light
Alexandros was the first, and greatest, High Lord of the Scarlet Crusade and it was under him that reclamation efforts were succeeding in the Plaguelands. It was also under him that saw non-human members of the Crusade exist and be considered heroes.
Balnazzar, realizing this would threaten everything, swayed Renault into betraying his father to try and claim the Ashbringer. While Alexandros is slain, Renault does not gain the sword.
The Third War began in Year 20, the Civil War between the Scourge and Forsaken taking place in year 22 which is the same year the Scarlet Crusade is founded, and the events of WoW (Classic) take place in Year 25.
Assuming Forever loosely holds to this same timeline, which I imagine it does, 3 years is more than enough time for this to happen given the fact the Scarlet Crusade is the largest and most militant of the three orders.
Forever is an entirely separate “pillar” of the game. You’ll have to play Forever for Forever content.
I just think it would be neat to include it as phased content. Same with discoveries unique raid.
Man I love lore junkies. Keep up the good work!

Just doing my hobby
And that’s when the Ashbringer falls into the river, to one day be fished up by an Adventurer.
This short further confirmed to me that Undead have no business being allowed to be Paladins of the Light, at least not without serious consequences.
In both this short and the new WC3 DLC the Light burns them for attempting to wield it, and these “Undead” or “Forsaken” aren’t just some randoms that became Forsaken and were still capable of wielding the Light, they were Heroes of the Light prior to their death. True Knights of the Silver Hand that’s connection was so strong with the Light, that it makes sense that if their belief was able to survive their Undeath, then they could still have a faint connection with it.
In the end, I don’t agree with every Undead and their brother being able to be Paladins and wielding the light. It is very Lore-breaking and is just something I do not agree with. I know people wanted it and all that, but for all you Classic Andys, this is the most Retail change they have made for Forever.
If Undead are going to be Paladins, then there needs to be a cost, as every Paladin in the added lore they’ve brought in, with this Short and the WC3 DLC, suffers for attempting to wield the Light still and says “It burns,” so Undead Paladins should lose health for using their attacks outside of auto attack, in my opinion.

By a most curious creature of sorts… a gnome…
Eh, let me know when they reintroduce Pandaren or expand Tauren lore and I might watch the video. Zero interest in Forsaken nonsense.
Every Undead and their brother isn’t able to be a Paladin or wield the Light. It’s actually a very rare thing.
But if we applied the actual lore rarity to the game there would be almost no:
- Mages
- Warlocks
- Druids
- Paladins
- Priests
- Shamans
It would mostly be rogues, warriors, and hunters.
If you can go to character creation and make an Undead Paladin right out the gate. Then every Undead and their Brother can, most certainly, and by definition, be a Paladin.
Got it, troll take.
