Class Tuning Incoming - October 27

The following class adjustments will arrive with scheduled weekly maintenance (October 27 in this region).

CLASS CHANGES

  • DRUID

    • Feral
      • All damage done increased by 5%. Does not affect PvP combat.
    • Restoration
      • Developer’s note: These changes are intended to help Restoration Druid deal with burst damage in dungeons, as they are behind other healers. They are performing well in raid settings, so we are targeting talents and abilities that are favored when healing a 5-person group.
      • Verdancy healing increased by 60%. Does not affect PvP combat.
      • Regrowth healing increased by 10%. Does not affect PvP combat.
      • Improved Swiftmend increases Swiftmend healing by 40% (was 30%). Does not affect PvP combat.
  • HUNTER

    • Marksmanship
      • Developers’ notes: These changes are intended to boost the area damage effectiveness of Marksmanship Hunters.
      • Trick Shots now increases the ricochet damage of Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire by 85% (was 75%).
      • Explosive Shot damage increased by 10%.
      • Volley damage increased by 10%.
  • MAGE

    • Fire
      • All damage done increased by 5%. Does not affect PvP combat.
  • ROGUE

    • Subtlety
      • Developers’ notes: The buff Subtlety received as compensation alongside changes in the 12.1.5 patch overshot expectations, so we’re rolling back a significant portion of that buff. In addition, the patch changes benefitted Trickster more than Deathstalker, so Trickster is receiving an additional smaller nerf.
      • All ability damage reduced by 8%.
      • Trickster: Fazed now increases damage by 5% (was 7%).
  • WARLOCK

    • Affliction
      • Unstable Affliction damage increased by 20%. Does not affect PvP combat.
    • Destruction
      • Rain of Fire damage increased by 20%.

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER

  • DEATH KNIGHT

    • Unholy
      • Developers’ notes: The last adjustments to San’layn did increase its viability, but the impact of Vampiric Strike has been higher than we would like.
      • San’layn: Vampiric Strike damage reduced by 20% in PvP combat.
  • DEMON HUNTER

    • Devourer
      • Collapsing Star damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
  • EVOKER

    • Preservation
      • Chronowarden: Chronal Dynamo increases the healing and damage of Living Flame by 80% when not an instant cast in PvP combat (was 50%).
      • Chronowarden: Reverberations now causes Verdant Embrace to heal for an additional 80% over 8 seconds in PvP combat (was 40%).
  • HUNTER

    • Marksmanship
      • Kill Shot damage increased by 40% in PvP combat.
      • Deathblow’s chance to be activated by Aimed Shot increased to 25% in PvP combat.
      • Dark Ranger: Black Arrow damage increased by 40% in PvP combat.
  • MAGE

    • Fire
      • Developers’ notes: Fire Mage has continued to overperform, so we’re decreasing its overall damage to bring it in line with expectations.
      • All damage reduced by 5% in PvP combat.
    • Frost
      • Developers’ notes: Frostfire has not been a competitive option for Frost Mages this season, so we’re increasing a few of its burst damage aspects to differentiate its damage profile from Spellslinger.
      • Frostfire: Isothermic Core’s Meteor damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Frostfire: Duality’s Pyroblast damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
  • MONK

    • Mistweaver
      • Developers’ notes: Conduit of the Celestials has not been a competitive option for Mistweavers this season, so we’re increasing its consistent and burst healing.
      • Conduit of the Celestials: Celestial Conduit healing increased by 35% in PvP combat.
      • Conduit of the Celestials: Strength of the Black Ox absorb increased by 25% in PvP combat.
  • PALADIN

    • Holy
      • Developers’ notes: Holy Paladin’s throughput has been underperforming and we’re decreasing the mana cost of Holy Light to promote casted healing.
      • All healing increased by 5% in PvP combat.
      • Divine Favor now reduces the mana cost of Holy Light by 50% in PvP combat (was 30%).
  • PRIEST

    • Holy
      • Developers’ notes: These changes are aimed at further improving Archon’s viability in PvP with targeted increases to Prayer of Healing’s group healing and the power of proc effects from the tree.
      • Prayerful Litany now causes the primary target of Prayer of Healing to be healed for 75% more in PvP combat (was 125%).
      • Prayer of Healing healing increased by 30% in PvP combat.
      • Archon: Resonant Energy now increases healing done by 4% per stack in PvP combat (was 2%).
      • Archon: Empowered Surges now increases the healing of spells affected by Surge of Light by 10% in PvP combat (was 5%).
      • Archon: Realized Potential now increases Flash Heal healing by 25% in PvP combat (was 20%).
  • ROGUE

      • Deathstalker: Hunt Them Down damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Deathstalker: Darkest Night now increases the damage of the next Eviscerate by 15% in PvP combat (was 8%).

Is fury warrior just a forgotten spec as this point? It’s one of the worst raid specs and one of the worse m+ specs, things are not fine.

Seems kinda light, probably bring them down from #1 DPS to #1 DPS.

lol

This isn’t even remotely a large enough of a buff for feral, nor is it in the right direction. A flat 5% bandaid does not suddenly fix the fact that the spec fundamentally does not work with the design of modern wow or this tier’s damage profile. Buff/Change DotC to be instant proc based damage with no dot reliance similar to sub rogue or this spec will continue to be perma M+ only, and even niche in that.

Since you’re not going to even try with PvP tuning, could you please just let the AI do your job for you?

When will the team fix Vengeance talents not working properly in instanced content? Those bugs have been reported for a month and we’ve heard nothing.

No offense but you guys really stink at balance. You let subt go way to long as being op. Your PvP changes to buff hunters and the laughable adjustment to holy pallys is almost comical. Except I’m not laughing because the spec has been dead in PvP all of midnight. You all need to do better

What a joke MM takes a tiny step back you instantly compensate buff meanwhile BM has been at the very freaking bottom of raid stats for months and hasn’t been touched since September just say we would rather you didn’t play bm utter joke of a company.

Hunter Tuning: Blizzard Has Completely Missed the Mark

Looking at the October 27 class tuning changes, I genuinely have to ask: What exactly is Blizzard’s goal for the Hunter class this season?

There are currently 27 DPS specializations represented in the performance data. Here’s where Hunters stand: (over a 2 week period for Mythic Raid)

Specialization Rank Score Parses
Marksmanship 19th of 27 75.28 13,670
Survival 21st of 27 74.27 971
Beast Mastery 25th of 27 73.19 21,529

Every single Hunter specialization is in the bottom third of DPS performance.

Not one is even in the upper half. This isn’t a case where one specialization struggles while the others provide competitive alternatives. The entire class is underperforming.

And Blizzard’s response? A few targeted AoE buffs to Marksmanship while completely ignoring Beast Mastery and Survival.

Marksmanship’s changes are estimated to provide approximately 1.5–3% additional raid damage, averaging around 2%, and roughly 6% in Mythic+.

While the Mythic+ improvements are welcome, a 2% raid increase potentially moves Marksmanship from the bottom third toward the middle of the pack.

Congratulations. You’ve potentially made the best Hunter specialization completely average.

Meanwhile, the other two remain untouched.

Beast Mastery is currently 25th out of 27, with over 21,000 parses supporting its position. That’s a substantial amount of performance data showing just how poorly the specialization is performing.

Yet it receives absolutely nothing.

Survival sits at 21st, with a smaller sample size, and also receives no adjustments.

Compare that to Feral Druid, ranked 23rd, and Fire Mage, ranked 26th. Both receive flat 5% damage increases.

Why are some underperforming specializations receiving meaningful adjustments while Hunters are seemingly ignored?

Where is the consistency in Blizzard’s tuning philosophy?

Hunters are a pure DPS class. We cannot switch to tanking or healing. Our entire purpose is dealing damage.

When one specialization struggles, switching to another should provide a viable alternative.

But what happens when all three are near the bottom?

What exactly are Hunter players supposed to switch to?

And considering Hunters’ relatively limited unique raid utility compared to several competing classes, this raises an even bigger question:

If Hunters aren’t competitive in damage and don’t provide comparable unique raid utility, what incentive does a progression raid leader have to bring one?

Nobody expects perfect balance. Someone will always be first, and someone will always be last.

But having all three specializations of a pure DPS class concentrated in the bottom third should be a massive warning sign.

Hunters aren’t asking to dominate the meters. We’re asking to be competitive.

A 2% estimated raid buff to your best-performing specialization does not fix a class-wide performance problem.

The October 27 changes aren’t necessarily bad. They’re simply nowhere near enough.

Blizzard, if this is what you consider adequate Hunter tuning, then the community deserves an explanation of your actual balance targets. Because based on the numbers, you’ve completely missed the mark.

Weekly reminder that Colossus is still severely behind Slayer in all dmg profiles in PvE where it sees no play at all for Arms. Surprised it’s had zero tuning to it’s hero talents to buff it since it was gutted going into 12.1 from a PvE perspective. Sure you gave it PvP specific modifiers but didnt give those to PvE where it was struggling too.

How are the frost mage changes. How do we buff destro and Marksman for aoe both better at frost mage AND OUTRIGHT ignore frost mage? I have to be going insane for this constant ignorance of its’ spot.

Educational assistance after educational assistance. People providing help and what to buff, and just outright ignored. No help, nothing. Holy. PLEASE DO SOMETHING with YOUR FREAKING GAME.

I feel you. I feel like they are just phoning it in at this point. I think they are hopeful that forever can carry them through TLT.

Thanks for the huge healing stream totem buff. I’m sure it’ll bring shaman up to pres or rdru’s level

I’m sure that massive 5% buff will be all that holy paladin needs too
