There is a bug when chaining multiple mobs in Forever.
Set pet on Passive (also happens on Assist)
Send pet to attack Mob 1
Get Mob 1 to 15% health
Send pet to attack Mob 2
Kill Mob 1 before pet reaches Mob 2
Expected
Pet continues to just go attack Mob 2 as you commanded
Actual
When Mob 1 dies, the pet will often just return to the player automatically. No other pet commands are used except the first Attack on Mob 1 and last Attack on Mob 2.
Very annoying bug when grinding on pet classes. Has been around all beta.
I went back and tested on TBC Fresh and Classic Era, bug does not exist there - only Forever.
Wanted to voice another oddity for hunter specifically involving when you put your pet on passive. With the summon hawk, it shares priority / AI with your pet. So if I have my pet set to passive, have it start attacking a mob, then summon a hawk, the hawk will fly to the target then just sort of fly back to me unless I reissue the pet attack command again. Not the biggest problem in the world, but I expected the functionality to be I summon hawk and it continues to attack the target I’ve summoned it on and listen to future commands, rather than immediately fly back to me.
But they ADDED assist in wow forever for the first time. so Assist now works the way that passive used to accept that it attacks when you attack. A passive pet does NOTHING unless commanded
If you want that then leave the pet on assist is what I am saying lmao
I get that youre saying passive doesnt behave thw wat you expect anymore
I am saying you an make your pet behave the way you want with assist
I wll say I wish we could have Assist AND defend active at the same time. If i attack, you attack, and if i am BEING attacked, you attack. All those options available would give us the most granular control
It is 100% that. It just seems like a weird interaction since it effectively takes the place of Arcane Shot. Feels like it should default to attacking whatever target I summoned it to, and then follow any new orders (effectively follow whatever command I give to my pet). Not a huge deal at least.
gotcha. Yeah ideally id like to have Passive and Aggressive be mutually exclusive, and have Assist and Defend as modular so that you could have a pet that fights when you fight, only when you attack, OR only when you ARE attacked, and other wise it would do nothing unless told (passive) OR attack on sight (aggressive)
Yeh i did an in game bug report on this a couple weeks back so hopefully someone has seen this at some point. Good to address on forums. I noticed on hunter. Didn’t check lock
