Forever stress test experience

As expected severe lag made the game unplayable in populated areas, any area where 50 plus people where together. Characters were freezing in time with there legs moving but their bodies stayed still.

You would literally see people vanish in realtime to another layer and then vanish back ever .5 seconds or there abouts. It appeared to be layering people but it seemed sporadic and uncontrolled.

I watched one guy walk from the entrance of stormwind and he literally was phasing in and out of existance every 2 steps he took. There is some definate work to be done. I am not sure what tech thats being used static or dynamic server meshing.

Hopefully this will get ironed out over time but I fully expect lauch to be a little rough

In the Valley of Trials and Tirisfal Glade, things were smooth as silk. No noticeable lag, lots of people. Lots and lots of undead pallies (expect this, they’re the only Horde race with pallies).

Zero lag for me. Everything was smooth. I watched a stream where like 50 players went to Un’Goro to kill elite dinos and he didn’t lag 1 time.

there were hundreds of us in the Ork starting area and it was smooth as butter

I danced gearless on the Stormwind fountain surrounded by at least 100 other toons perfectly fine. I’ve seen people reporting everything in between though, so I guess I was just lucky.

Very smooth in Night Elf area.

Mulgore was lovely. No performance issues or weird bugs whatsoever until the mobs and NPCs all disappeared in the leadup to the shutdown.

I was trying to take a boat to Stormwind, got stuck on the loading screen for 5 minutes, then loaded into the underside of Dalaran. I fell to the bottom and got placed at the stairs of the city. I got lots of cool screenshots of the city. Good times.

Interesting. I went to three Zones right after it opened. Max graphics. AMD 9060XT full graphics…and… not one issue. Not with walking, skills, scenery or any other actions. I run everything AMD, I won’t bow to Intel and nVidia (just my preference and also cheaper).

Not sure what OP is running but I hear a lot of Intel and nVidia complaints. Also, I am running Windows 10 because blank Microsoft and their AI.

We have it recorded, we experienced the same thing prior to the stress test in the beta in Stormwind. The difference was definatley because it was a Olympus gathering point for the stress test. around 7 K people in total that I am aware of.

With that many I get why its lagging. It just cant handle that large of a load. It will get better over time.

Now outside of stormwind where Olympus was not gathering everything seems just fine. But the test was a stress test and that definately happened in stormwind.

Just a side note some users had 5090’s , 9700’s, 5060’s, 4080’s, 4060’s, etc. and they all experienced the same thing.

same, undead zone was smooth

I played in the human area on the PVE server for the whole test and it went surprisingly well. Minimal lag and no DCs and there were a ton of players in Northshire.

Stress test ran pretty much perfectly here too

Zero queue. Zero lag. Maybe a hardware issue on your end. Only issues I had were shadows flickering between two states.

Oh yea…you know…I logged in slightly late after work and also had no queue…that kinda blew me away honestly lol. Good point.

I did have lag, but was in a raid group in Northshire on our horde on the RPPVP thing…but that was the only moment it got laggy for me was at the starter zone in a raid. Otherwise it was pretty darn smooth for me…no complaints. Think I did see some flickering shadows here and there too as you say.

Oh and I had 1 DC toward the mid-end of it I think. Overall pretty smooth…hope they got some good data from it.

Id be surprised if there wasnt some lagging with that many characters in the one spot.

I think that will be one of the issues that might occur if guilds like that are formed (which they will be). Probably another reason to consider whether being on that server is worth the risk of technical gameplay disturbances.

Didnt get a chance to check it out unfortunately because blizzard changed the day…

Ah well, less than 2 weeks to the real thing. Plenty of time to figure out where to go, what characters and professions and classes to pick, etc. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
